Good Morning!

Welcome to Barah Ministries…a Christian Church based in Mesa, AZ…my name is Pastor Rory Clark.  At Barah Ministries we are “pursuing the truth through the study of the Word of God.”  Because of the gracious provision of the internet, from our omnipotent God, the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, Barah Ministries has a worldwide reach and an intimate impact on lives.  Thank you Lord for providing a way for anyone, anywhere to be reached with Your Word.

TODAY’S BIBLE LESSON

The Price Doesn’t Matter

When you were buying something, how many times have you ever said to a salesperson … “The price doesn’t matter.”  It’s not something you would be quick to say because you might not want to make yourself vulnerable to a salesperson for fear they’ll take advantage of you.

Yet when it comes to your salvation, it’s exactly what God the Father thought when He sent His Son to purchase you…THE PRICE DOESN’T MATTER.  For our God, no price that anyone would have charged to save you would have been too high…John, Chapter 3, Verse 16…

John 3:16

“For God the Father loved the world (all mankind) unconditionally, and He loved all mankind so much, that He gave His uniquely born Son (the Lord Jesus Christ), that whosoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life (the resurrection life).”

Like mothers give…God the Father GAVE…what kind of giving?  The kind of giving Ignatius Loyola describes in this prayer…

PRAYER OF IGNATIUS LOYOLA

Dearest Lord,

Teach me to be generous

Teach me to serve You as You deserve

To give and not to count the cost

To fight and not to heed the wounds

To toil and not to seek for rest

To labor and not to ask for reward

Save that reward of knowing I am doing Your Will.

The Father GAVE…and He didn’t count the cost.  Mothers give…and they don’t count the cost.  Happy Mother’s Day, especially to all the mothers who are hearing this lesson…wherever in the world you may be…and thank you for caring as much as you do about your children…almost as much as God the Father cares for His children.

Welcome to a place where you can get to know a God who loves you like a mother loves the children they carry in their womb for nine months.

OPENING PRAYER

Let us pray...

We’re grateful, Heavenly Father, for the privilege of studying Your absolute truth...the Word of God…

Thank you, Father, for giving us Mothers as the embodiment of Your unconditional love…thanks for the strength these women provide for our lives…thanks for showing us through them how to overlook faults…let that quality of overlooking faults pass on to us as we look back at our mother’s lives… help us to realize that no matter what the experience with our mothers was like, they were simply doing their best…

Father…heal the pain of all those who have recently had traumatic experiences with their moms…for the moms who have recently come home to be with you…for the moms who are going through trials in the matter of health right now…to the moms who are suffering for any reason…thanks for reminding us in Your Word that You are working all things together for their good…help us to become the people our mothers think we are…and say hi to my mom for me…

We ask this through the power of God the Holy Spirit…in Christ’s name...

Amen.

TODAY’S BIBLE LESSON

The Price Doesn’t Matter

We continue our study of the final passage in Romans, Chapter 8, which extends from Verse 31 to Verse 39…here it is…

Romans 8:31

What then shall we believers in Christ say face-to-face with all these things?  If God the Father is for us, and He is, who is ever going to be successful in opposition against us?

Romans 8:32

God the Father, who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him over for us all, how will the Father not also, with our union with Christ, freely give us all things?

Romans 8:33

Who will bring a successful charge against God’s elect (all believers in Christ)? God is the one who justifies…

Romans 8:34

…who is the one who condemns? Christ Jesus is He who died, yes, rather He who was raised…He who is at the right hand of God the Father…He who also intercedes for us.

Romans 8:35

Who will separate us from the unconditional love of Christ? Will tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword separate us from His unconditional love?

Romans 8:36

Just as it is written, “For Your sake we are being put to death all day long;

we were considered as sheep to be slaughtered.”

Romans 8:37

But in all these things we overwhelmingly conquer through Him who loved us.

Romans 8:38

For I (Paul) am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers…

Romans 8:39

…nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing, will be able to separate us from the unconditional love of God the Father, which is for us through our union with Christ Jesus our Lord.

Remember…this passage is part of a love letter to all believers in Christ…and we’re studying the first two verses of the passage, Romans, Chapter 8, Verses 31 and 32…and the apostle Paul is asking us to consider two of the six important questions in the passage about our relationship with God…

PAUL’S QUESTIONS TO BELIEVERS IN CHRIST

What then shall we believers in Christ say face-to-face with all these things?

If God the Father is for us, and He is, who is ever going to be successful in opposition against us?

God is telling us clearly, through Paul, that He has nothing against us.  In other words, God is on your side.  Romans, Chapter 8, Verse 31…

Romans 8:31

What then shall we believers in Christ say face-to-face with all these things?  If God the Father is for us, and He is, who is ever going to be successful in opposition against us?

No one and nothing will ever be successful against a believer in Christ.  The Lord’s believers are protected…First Peter, Chapter 1, Verses 3 to 6…

First Peter 1:3

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His great mercy has caused us believers in Christ to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead…

First Peter 1:4

…to obtain an inheritance which is imperishable and undefiled and will not fade away, reserved in heaven for you believers in Christ…

First Peter 1:5

…who are protected by the power of God the Father (divine omnipotence) through faith for a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.

First Peter 1:6

In this protection you greatly rejoice, even though now for a little while, if necessary, you have been distressed by various trials…

God is on your side.  So when you experience personal trauma, there is no need to faint in your souls and to collapse with fear as if the thing you are experiencing isn’t just EXACTLY what God knew, in His omniscience, that you would experience a billion years ago…don’t faint in your soul with fear as if God is working all things together for everyone else’s good but not for your good!  Amen!?!

Here’s the proof that God is on your side…Romans, Chapter 8, Verse 32…

Romans 8:32

God the Father, who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him over for us all (for the saints…for the believers in Christ…and also for sinners), how will the Father not also, with our union with Christ, freely give us all things?

God’s message to His creatures is clear…if I am able and willing to do the hardest thing for you…to send my beloved Son to die for you on a Cross… putting Him through the most torturous adversity in divine history…letting Him shed His blood for you…I am MUCH MORE able and MUCH MORE willing to do the simple things for you.   Do you remember the “MUCH MORE” passage from Romans, Chapter 5, in Verses 8 to 11?

Romans 5:8

But God the Father demonstrates His own unconditional love toward us (all mankind), in that while we were yet sinners (while we were unrighteous and ungodly unbelievers), Christ died instead of us.

If I, God the Father, did THAT for you…

Romans 5:9

MUCH MORE then, having now been justified by the shedding of His blood, we believers in Christ shall be saved from the wrath of God the Father (the Lake of Fire) through Him.

Romans 5:10

For if while we were His enemies, we were reconciled to God the Father through the death of His Son, and we were, MUCH MORE, having been reconciled, we shall be saved by His Son’s life.

Romans 5:11

And not only this, but we also exult in God the Father through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received the reconciliation.

God’s message to us, in Romans 8:32, is this…

GOD’S MESSAGE TO US in ROMANS 8:32

“If I am able and willing to do the hardest thing for you…which is standing by and watching as my Son is mutilated by sinners on your behalf…then you have to know that I am MUCH MORE able and MUCH MORE willing to do the simple things for you, whatever they happen to be.”

As far as God is concerned, the price to save you doesn’t matter…even if the price is His Son.  Let’s take a music break and we’ll learn more.

TODAY’S BIBLE LESSON

The Price Doesn’t Matter

There is a price for your salvation…and unfortunately, you are not good enough to pay the price to save yourself…because at physical birth you are “in Adam” and there is a barrier between you and God that makes it impossible for you to have a relationship with God.  First Corinthians, Chapter 15, Verse 22…

First Corinthians 15:22a

All who are “in Adam” (at physical birth) are set to die the second death…

You’ve got to ask yourself this question…am I “in Adam?”  If you are, you are not a believer in the Lord Jesus Christ for your salvation, and you are set to die the second death in the Lake of Fire.  In other words, you are born as an enemy of God…Romans, Chapter 3, Verses 10 and 11…

Romans 3:10

…as it is written, “There is no creature who is (born) righteous (in God’s eyes), not even one…”

Romans 3:11

There is no creature who understands God, and there is no creature who seeks for God…

Since you are born an enemy of God, if you are going to have a relationship with God you have to be reconciled with God.  What is reconciliation?

RECONCILIATION

To cause someone or something to conform to a standard

At physical birth you do not conform to the ONLY standard God recognizes in those who have a relationship with Him…RIGHTEOUSNESS.  In fact, at physical birth you are just the opposite of God’s standard…you are an unrighteous, ungodly unbeliever.  It’s not your fault that you were born into this situation, but it is your circumstance.  Because of God’s unconditional love for you, an unconditional love that has always been His attitude toward you, God the Father stepped in to fix your situation…to make things right for you.  Let’s look at the first part of the verse…Romans, Chapter 8, Verse 32a…

Romans 8:32a

God the Father, who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him over for us all…

God the Father is saying to all creatures, “I consider all of your problems to be my responsibility to solve… … so to solve your salvation problem, I’ll give you my beloved Son…to die for you…so that you can be reconciled to me…so that you can conform to my RIGHTEOUSNESS standard…my Son…I DID NOT SPARE Him, but instead I DELIEVRED HIM OVER for all of you…and if you believe in Him for salvation, I’ll credit your account with His righteousness…Romans, Chapter 4, Verse 25…

Romans 4:25

Christ…who was delivered over because of our transgressions, and was raised from the dead because of our justification…

Second Corinthians, Chapter 5, Verse 21…

Second Corinthians 5:21

God the Father made the Christ, who knew no sin, to be sin on our behalf, so that we might become the righteousness of God the Father in union with Him.

Christ was DELIVERED OVER to what?  Christ was DELIVERED OVER to physical abuse…Luke, Chapter 22, Verses 63 to 65…

Luke 22:63

Now the men who were holding Jesus in custody were mocking Him and beating Him…

Luke 22:64

…and they blindfolded Him and were asking Him, saying, “Prophesy, who is the one who hit You?”

Luke 22:65

And they were saying many other things against Him, blaspheming.

Christ was DELIVERED OVER to crucifixion…the worst death in human history (and God always works this way…taking on the worst)…Galatians, Chapter 3, Verse 13…

Galatians 3:13

Christ redeemed us from the curse of the Mosaic Law, having become a curse for us—for it is written, “Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree (in crucifixion)”—

Christ was DELIVERED OVER to the wrath of His Father, expressed toward the sins of the world…Romans, Chapter 1, Verse 18…

Romans 1:18

For the wrath of God (the Lake of Fire) is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and against the unrighteousness of men who suppress the truth in unrighteousness…

Romans, Chapter 2, Verse 5…

Romans 2:5

But because of your stubbornness and your unrepentant heart you unbelievers are storing up wrath for yourself in the day of wrath and in the day of the revelation of the righteous judgment of God…

Unbelievers are saying…thanks for your help Jesus, but I’ll take my own wrath from your Father…I’ll work to save myself.

This is what is important for you to know.  Jesus Christ is God.  He is not just a good man…He is not just a good prophet…He is not just a good rabbi…He is God.  He is the Lord Jesus Christ.  We call Him Lord… because He is God the Son…Deity…who took on human form…we call Him Jesus Christ because He is true humanity…a human being just like us…He is the unique Person of the Universe…and what makes Him different from everyone else ever, is that He was resurrected from the dead.  Matthew, Chapter 28, Verses 5 and 6…

Matthew 28:5

The angel said to the women, “Do not be afraid; for I know that you are looking for Jesus who has been crucified.”

Matthew 28:6

“Jesus is not here, for He has risen from the dead, just as He said. Come, see the place where He was lying.”

So as you contemplate what has been said in this lesson…that the Lord Jesus Christ is on your side…that God the Father gave His Son to die for you…that God the Father is able and willing to do anything for you…that the proof is that God the Father did the toughest thing…sending His Son to die instead of you…because God the Father thinks no price is too high to pay for your salvation…now ask yourself this question…are you willing to accept the free gift?

GOD WANTS YOU!

Make the Most Important Decision of Your Life

Matthew 22:42

“What do you think about the Christ (the Messiah), whose son is He?”

Acts 16:31

“Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved, you and everyone in your household who also believes.”

Acts 4:12

“And there is salvation in no one else; for there is no other name under heaven that has been given to mankind by which we must be saved (except the name of the Lord Jesus Christ).”

Romans 1:16

For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God that brings  salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek.

Acts 2:21

‘And it shall be that everyone who calls on the Person of the Lord Jesus Christ for salvation will be saved.’
