Good Morning!

Welcome to Barah Ministries…a Christian Church based in Mesa, AZ…my name is Pastor Rory Clark.

TODAY’S BIBLE LESSON

The Lord’s Supper Celebration:

THE LORD WANTS TO BE WITH YOU

Today, just as we do every month, we celebrate the Lord’s Supper…a meal  of remembrance.  We eat, by breaking bread…we drink, by tasting the fruit of the vine…and we look back to the Cross…one of the most significant occurrences in divine history.  First Corinthians, Chapter 11, Verse 26 says…

FIRST CORINTHIANS 11:26

For as often as you eat this bread and drink the cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death until He comes.

At the Lord’s Supper celebration, as a gathering of His believers, we remember the Lord’s death on the Cross which paid for the sin of all mankind…we remember the shedding of His blood to cleanse us from unrighteousness… and we remember, with gladness, that He was resurrected from the dead three days after His crucifixion to prove He is indeed Deity.  And now we believers KNOW, through His infallible Word, that the Lord Jesus Christ is seated, victorious, at the right hand of His Father’s throne, waiting for the moment when God the Father will make the Lord’s enemies a footstool for His feet.

The Hebrew prophet Ezekiel, in the last verse of his forty-eight chapter letter, describes The New Jerusalem…Ezekiel, Chapter 48, Verse 35…

EZEKIEL 48:35

The city shall be 18,000 cubits round about…and the name of the city from

that day shall be, ‘The Lord is there.’”

18000 cubits is the size of ten football fields in every direction…and one day, the despicable practice of worshiping idols will be done away, and there will be a sole object of our worship…the Lord.

The New Jerusalem is called, “Yahweh Shammah” in Hebrew.  It means, “The Lord is there.”  When you think about it, that’s one of the things the omnipresent God wants…this God, who is able to be everywhere simultaneously is orchestrating this…the Lord wants to be with us.  Evidence of the Lord’s desire to be with us appears all throughout the bible…like in John, Chapter 1, Verse 14…

JOHN 1:14

And the Word (the Lord…God the Son…Deity) took to Himself flesh (a body similar to the body of all of us as true humanity…and His name was Jesus Christ), and He tabernacled among us, and we beheld His glory, glory as of the uniquely born One (100% God and 100% Man in one person forever)… the One from God the Father…the One who is full of grace and full of truth.

Wherever we are…“The Lord is there.”

When the Lord came to be with us, He was not well received.  Isaiah, Chapter 53, Verse 3…

ISAIAH 53:3

The Lord Jesus Christ was despised and forsaken of men…He was a man of sorrows and He was acquainted with grief (the same suffering we endure)… and like one from whom men hide their face, He was despised, and we did not esteem Him.

The Lord came to be with us, and we mistreated Him.  We did not take care of the relationship.  Is it different for us today?  Is it different for you?  Do you take care of your relationship with the Lord?

Why does the Lord want to be with us?  The Cross made the Lord Jesus Christ’s motives related to being with us clear…Ephesians, Chapter 2, Verses 13 and 14…

EPHESIANS 2:13

But now that you are in union with Christ Jesus, you (Gentiles) who formerly were far off (from God) have been brought near (to God) by the blood of Christ (shed at the Cross on behalf of all mankind).

EPHESIANS 2:14

For the Lord Jesus Christ Himself is our peace, who made both groups (Jews and Gentiles) into one group (the Body of Christ) and broke down the barrier of the dividing wall (the spiritual barrier between the Creator and creatures caused by sin)…

The Lord, at the Cross, got rid of anything that would separate us from Him.

The Lord Jesus Christ’s desire is to bring us near…and He brought us as close as He can bring us by having God the Holy Spirit baptize us into union with Him at the moment of salvation.  He is now indwelling us…and He is our source of strength for everything we do in life.

Welcome to the celebration of what the Lord did for us at the Cross, namely making it possible for us to be as close to Him as possible, so He could be as close to us as possible, so that wherever we are, “The Lord is there.”

OPENING PRAYER

Let us pray...

We’re grateful, Heavenly Father, for the privilege of studying Your absolute truth...the Word of God…

Father, thank you for always being only a thought away in our prayers… thank you for always communicating to us through Your Word that You want a deep, intimate and personal relationship with us…thank you for monitoring every one of our thoughts, intents, and actions…and thank you for protecting us from ourselves…thank you for letting us know how much You love us and how much You long to be with us all the time…thank you  for being unconditional in Your love for us…

Make us aware of Your indwelling presence…especially in those times when we are weakest…help us to notice and to enjoy the work You do on our behalf…nourish us and edify us with the thoughts we are about to hear from Your Word…

We ask this through the power of God the Holy Spirit…in Christ’s name... Amen.

TODAY’S BIBLE LESSON

The Lord’s Supper Celebration:

THE LORD WANTS TO BE WITH YOU

“Yahweh Shammah” … the name of the New Jerusalem … “The Lord is there.”  Do you want to be with the Lord?

I have seen many men in my lifetime who carry the bible around with them all the time.  I was one of those men at one time, but I got uncomfortable with it.  I always wondered secretly to myself, at Satan’s prompting of course, “Am I doing this to be noticed by men?”  Matthew, Chapter 6, Verse 1 came to mind…

MATTHEW 6:1

“Beware of practicing your righteousness before men to be noticed by them…otherwise you have no reward with your Father who is in heaven.”

Well I wanted a reward, so I was wary about “showing off” my spirituality.  Aeneas Williams, a former Arizona Cardinal football player who was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2014, is a man who always carries his bible around.  He opens it…he reads it…he quotes it…he evangelizes with it.  To the unbeliever he is a freak.  Even to the majority of believers he is a freak … “over the top” is the way they would describe his obsession with Scripture.  Is Aeneas Williams a freak?  Is he “over the top?”  Maybe.  But another thing is also true.  It was obvious to everyone that “The Lord is there” in his life.  Would anyone describe your life that way?  Is it obvious to those around you that “The Lord is there” … that the Lord is a part of your life?  Do you see the Lord is your decisions, especially in your decisions in relationships?

I still carry the bible around with me all the time.  But now that it is on my “smartphone,” nobody knows what I am reading.  I am a stealth bomber bible student.  In fact, few really suspect how much the Lord is a part of my thoughts and my life.  Yet during crisis times for friends, I always seem to get calls out of the blue.  So something about the Lord must be shining through my life.

The Lord wants to be with you right now...Matthew, Chapter 18, Verse 20…

MATTHEW 18:20

For where two or three have gathered together in My name, I am there in their midst.”

“The Lord is there” with us right now…just as He is with us in every single service we have here at Barah Ministries.  Not only is the Lord with us now, but also He will be with us in the future… Revelation, Chapter 21, Verses 1 to 4…

REVELATION 21:1

Then I (John) saw a new heaven and a new earth; for the first heaven and the first earth passed away, and there is no longer any sea on the new earth.

REVELATION 21:2

And I saw the holy city, the New Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, made ready as a bride is adorned for her husband.

REVELATION 21:3

And I heard a loud voice from the throne, saying, “Behold, the tabernacle of God is among men, and He will dwell among them, and they shall be His people, and God Himself will be among them…”

REVELATION 21:4

“…and He will wipe away every tear from their eyes; and there will no longer be any death; there will no longer be any mourning, or crying, or pain; the first things have passed away.”

Everything about God makes it clear that He wants to be with us, even His name.  Matthew, Chapter 1, Verse 23…

MATTHEW 1:23

“Behold, the virgin shall be with child and shall bear a Son, and they shall call His name Immanuel,” which translated means, “God with us.”

John, Chapter 14, Verses 1 to 3…

JOHN 14:1

“Do not let your heart be troubled…believe in God the Father, believe also in Me (the Lord Jesus Christ).”

JOHN 14:2

“In My Father’s house are many dwelling places (mansions); if it were not so, I would have told you; for I go to prepare a place for you.”

JOHN 14:3

“If I go and prepare a place for you, I WILL COME AGAIN AND RECEIVE YOU TO MYSELF, that where I am, there you may be also.”

The Lord encourages Christians not to lock Him out of their lives… Revelation, Chapter 3, Verse 20…

REVELATION 3:20

Behold, I stand at the door (of your soul) and (and I keep on) knock(ing); if anyone hears My voice and opens the door (maybe you will and maybe you won’t…you have a choice), I will come in to him and I will dine with him, and he will dine with Me.

Fellowship.  Let’s take a few moments to engage in the ultimate fellowship…let’s dine with Him…let’s enjoy the elements.  And as we do, let’s feel the Lord’s presence among us.

TODAY’S BIBLE LESSON

The Lord’s Supper Celebration:

ENJOYING THE ELEMENTS

Following God’s request, we keep on celebrating CHRIST and His Cross on a regular basis…we eat to remember who He is as a PERSON…we drink to remember His WORK, the voluntary sacrifice He made at the Cross on our behalf as our sin substitute…and we are grateful for what God has done for us.  First Corinthians, Chapter 11, Verses 23 and 24 say…

FIRST CORINTHIANS 11:23

For I, Paul received from the Lord that which I also delivered to you, that the Lord Jesus Christ on the night in which He was betrayed took bread…

FIRST CORINTHIANS 11:24

and when He had given thanks, He broke it and said, “This is, and keeps

on being My body, which is broken for you…keep on doing this celebration

for the purpose of remembering Me.”

When we eat the bread during the Lord’s Supper Celebration, we remember the Lord Jesus Christ AS A PERSON.

When we drink the cup, we remember THE WORK of the Lord Jesus Christ.  First Corinthians, Chapter 11, Verses 25 and 26 say…

FIRST CORINTHIANS 11:25

In the same way the Lord Jesus Christ took the cup after supper, representing His death on the Cross, saying, “This cup is a new testament forged with My blood; keep on doing this celebration…and as often as you drink it…do so for the purpose of remembering Me.”

FIRST CORINTHIANS 11:26

For as often as you eat this bread and drink the cup (as part of the Lord’s Supper Celebration), you proclaim (as a reality and you announce the significance of) the Lord Jesus Christ’s death (on the Cross and His resurrection from the dead) until He comes (again in the second coming).

As you enjoy the bread and the cup, enjoy the memory of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ as well. Now and always, let us keep on giving thanks that we are loved unconditionally and accepted fully by THE LORD WHO IS ALWAYS THERE…and let’s enjoy His unconditional love Day by Day…and that’s the name of our Lord’s Supper song.

TODAY’S BIBLE LESSON

The Lord’s Supper Celebration:

THE LORD WANTS TO BE WITH YOU

Welcome back!

God has an enemy.  The enemy has several titles that indicate his function in relation to mankind…Satan…the devil…the accuser of the brethren…the prince of the power of the air…the deceiver…anti-Christ…the serpent of old…the adversary…the ruler of demons…the dragon…the murderer…the evil one…the spirit working in the sons of disobedience…the tempter…the god of this world.  The bible dedicates a lot of ink to describing this one whose greatest deception is to convince believers in Christ that he does not exist.  If you ask many believers in Christ today, they don’t think Satan exists…yet they have no way to explain the unrest in their souls and the destruction in their relationships caused by the orchestration of this master strategist, with his insidious cunning and his deceptive temptations which overwhelm their souls with misery and suffering.  Revelation, Chapter 12, Verses 10 to 12…

REVELATION 12:10

Then I (John) heard a loud voice in heaven, saying, “Now the salvation, and the power, and the kingdom of our God and the authority of His Christ have come, for the accuser of our brethren has been thrown down, he who accuses the brethren before our God day and night.”

REVELATION 12:11

“And they overcame him because of the blood of the Lamb and because of the word of their testimony, and they did not love their life even when faced with death.”

REVELATION 12:12

“For this reason, rejoice, O heavens and you who dwell in them. Woe to the earth and the sea, because the devil has come down to you, having great wrath (fury), knowing that he has only a short time (three and a half years…1260 days).”

“Yahweh Shammah” … “The Lord is there.”  The beauty we experience in this world comes when we see the Lord manifest in the things around us.

Yet there is place where no one wants the Lord to be.  There are people who want nothing to do with the Lord.  There is a place of torment…the Lake of Fire.  It is the eternal residence of all those who have rejected the Lord’s Person and His presence.  Luke, Chapter 13, Verses 22 to 28…

LUKE 13:22

And the Lord Jesus Christ was passing through from one city and village to another, teaching, and proceeding on His way to Jerusalem.

LUKE 13:23

And someone said to Him, “Lord, are there just a few who are being saved?” And the Lord said to them…

LUKE 13:24

“Strive to enter through the narrow door (the Lord Jesus Christ is the ONLY door to salvation); for many, I tell you, will seek to enter (another way) and will not be able.”

LUKE 13:25

“Once the head of the house gets up and shuts the door, and you begin to stand outside and knock on the door, saying, ‘Lord, open up to us!’ then He will answer and say to you, ‘I do not know where you are from.’”

At physical death, the door is shut…it’s too late to make a decision for Christ after that.

LUKE 13:26

“Then you will begin to say, ‘We ate and drank in Your presence, and You taught in our streets…’ ”

LUKE 13:27

“…and He will say, ‘I tell you, I do not know where you are from; depart from Me, all you evildoers (a reference to unbelievers).’”

LUKE 13:28

“In that place there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth when you see Abraham and Isaac and Jacob and all the prophets in the kingdom of God, but see you yourselves being thrown out (into the outer darkness…the Lake of Fire).”

Matthew, Chapter 13, Verses 36 to 43…

MATTHEW 13:36

Then the Lord Jesus Christ left the crowds and went into the house. And the

Lord’s disciples came to Him and said, “Explain to us the parable of the

 tares of the field.”

MATTHEW 13:37

And the Lord said, “The one who sows the good seed is the Son of Man (the Lord Jesus Christ Himself)…”

MATTHEW 13:38

“…and the field is the world (Satan’s kingdom)…and as for the good seed, these are the sons of the kingdom (believers in Christ)…and the tares are the sons of the evil one (unbelievers)…”

MATTHEW 13:39

“…and the enemy who sowed the tares (unbelievers) is the devil, and the harvest is at the end of the age…and the reapers are elect angels.”

MATTHEW 13:40

“So just as the tares are gathered up and burned with fire, so shall it be at the end of the age.”

MATTHEW 13:41

“The Son of Man will send forth His elect angels, and they will gather out of His kingdom all stumbling blocks (unbelievers), and those who commit lawlessness (unbelievers)…”

MATTHEW 13:42

“…and the angels will throw them into the furnace of fire (The Lake of Fire)…in that place there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.”

MATTHEW 13: 43

“Then the righteous will shine forth as the sun in the kingdom of their Father. He who has ears, let him hear.”

The Cross is an invitation to fellowship.  “The Lord is there.”  He wants to be with you and He wants you to be with Him.  What is your choice?  Because each of us get to choose where he will spend eternity.  As Joshua says in Joshua, Chapter 24, Verse 15…

JOSHUA 24:15

“If it is disagreeable in your sight to serve the Lord, choose for yourselves today whom you will serve…whether you serve the gods which your fathers served which were beyond the River…or whether you serve the gods of the Amorites in whose land you are living…but as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.”

No matter whom you choose to serve, “The Lord is there.”  As David said, in Psalm 139, Verse 8…

PSALM 139:8

If I ascend to heaven, You (Lord) are there; If I make my bed in Sheol (the Lake of Fire), behold, You (Lord) are there.

Thank you Lord for allowing us to celebrate Your Cross…the absolute demonstration of Your unconditional love for every one of us, and the perfect communication of Your desire to be with us.

Let’s make sure that our life is a physical manifestation of Him…a billboard to all in the world that says, “The Lord is there.”

GOD WANTS YOU!

The Most Important Decision of Your Life

MATTHEW 19:25b

(The disciples asked the Lord) “Then who can be saved?”

ROMANS 3:10

…as it is written, “There is no creature who is righteous, not even one…”

ROMANS 5:8

But God the Father demonstrates His own unconditional love toward all mankind, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died instead of us.

EPHESIANS 2:8-9

For by grace you have been saved through faith (in the Lord Jesus Christ alone); and that (grace and faith and salvation is) not of yourselves, it is the gift of God;//it is not as a result of works, so that no one may boast.

TITUS 3:5

The Lord Jesus Christ saved us, not on the basis of deeds we have done in self-righteousness, but according to His mercy, by the washing of regeneration and by the renewing from the Holy Spirit…
