I now rejoice, not that you were made sorrowful (by God), but that you were made sorrowful (by God) to the point of repentance (metanoia…a change of mind…a complete reversal of your position); for you were made sorrowful (by God) according to the will of God, so that you might not suffer loss in anything through us.
METANOIA
To change your mental attitude…to make a complete turnabout
For the sorrow that is according to the will of God produces a repentance without regret, leading to salvation (deliverance), but the sorrow of the world produces death (grave danger).
Have this attitude (mindset) in yourselves (believes in Christ) which was also in Christ Jesus…
The steps of a man (who is a believer in Christ) are established by the Lord (our Christian walk), and He (the Lord) delights in his (the believer’s) way (path).
When he (the believer in Christ) falls, he will not be hurled headlong, because the Lord is the One who holds his hand.
I (King David) have been young and now I am old, yet I have not seen the righteous (believers in Christ) forsaken or his descendants begging bread…

When I Think About Home
Therefore I, the prisoner of the Lord, implore you to walk in a manner worthy of the calling with which you have been called…
…with all humility and gentleness, with patience, showing tolerance for one another in (unconditional) love…
…being diligent to preserve the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.
As a result, we are no longer to be children, tossed here and there by waves and carried about by every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, by craftiness in deceitful scheming…
So this I say, and affirm together with the Lord, that you walk (with a lifestyle) no longer just as the Gentiles (unbelievers) also walk, in the futility of their mind…
…being darkened in their understanding, excluded from the life of God because of the ignorance that is in them, because of the hardness of their heart…
…and they, having become callous, have given themselves over to sensuality for the practice of every kind of impurity with greediness.
…in reference to your former manner of life, you lay aside the old self, which is being corrupted in accordance with the lusts of deceit…
…and put on the new self, which in the likeness of God has been created in righteousness and holiness of the truth.
Therefore, laying aside falsehood, SPEAK TRUTH EACH ONE of you WITH HIS NEIGHBOR, for we are members of one another.
BE ANGRY, AND yet DO NOT SIN; do not let the sun go down on your anger…
…and do not give the devil an opportunity (topon…a room in your soul).
He who steals must steal no longer; but rather he must labor, performing with his own hands what is good, so that he will have something to share with one who has need.
Let no unwholesome word proceed from your mouth, but only such a word as is good for edification according to the need of the moment, so that it will give grace to those who hear.
Do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption.
Let all bitterness and wrath and anger and clamor and slander be put away from you, along with all malice.
Be kind to one another, tender-hearted, forgiving each other, just as God in Christ also has forgiven you.

The Good News to Unbelievers Concerning Jesus Christ

This is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior (the Lord Jesus Christ),//who desires all men to be saved…
For as (a result of being) in (union with) Adam (at physical birth) all (mankind are set to) die (the second death)…
But God (the Father) demonstrates His own (unconditional) love toward us (all mankind), in that while we were yet sinners (spiritually dead unbelievers), Christ died (as a sin substitute) for us.
Believe in the Lord Jesus Christ and you will be saved, you and (everyone in) your household (who also believes).
(The Lord) Jesus Christ said, “I am the way (to salvation), (I am) the truth (through the Word of God) and (I am) the (eternal) life; no one comes to the Father, but through (believing in) Me.”
“He (anyone) who believes in the Son (the Lord Jesus Christ) has (the) eternal life...but he who does not obey (the command to believe in) the Son (the Lord Jesus Christ) will not see (the eternal) life but the wrath of God (the Lake of Fire) abides on him.”
For by (efficacious) grace you have been saved through faith (alone in the Lord Jesus Christ alone); and that (grace, faith, and salvation is) not of yourselves, it is the gift of God;//not as a result of works, so that no one may boast.
“And there is salvation in no one else; for there is no other name under heaven that has been given among men, by which we must be saved (except the name of the Lord Jesus Christ).”
And he (one of the thieves on the Cross next to Jesus) was saying, “Jesus, remember me when You come in Your kingdom!”//And He (the Lord Jesus Christ) said to him (the repentant thief), “Truly I say to you, today you shall be with Me in Paradise.”
And I give eternal life to them (believers in Christ), and they (believers) shall never perish; and no one shall snatch them (believers) out of My hand.
And if anyone’s name was not found written in the book of life (at the last judgment), he was thrown into the Lake of Fire.
