3. A Bond-Servant of Christ
BOND-SERVANT
The Greek word is doulos…a slave…a person who is bound to a master for life…one who freely serves…a person owned by another person…a person who serves another person permanently.
“…whoever wishes to become great among you shall be your servant…”
“…and whoever wishes to be first among you shall be slave (doulos) of all.”
“For even the Son of Man (the Lord Jesus Christ) did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many.”

4. An Apostle by Spiritual Gift
And He (the Lord Jesus Christ) gave some as apostles, and some as prophets, and some as evangelists, and some as pastors and teachers…
…for the equipping of the saints for the work of service, to (purpose of) the building up of the body of Christ…
…until we (believers in Christ) all attain to (because of) the unity of the faith, and (because) of the knowledge of the Son of God, to (the standard of) a mature man, (and we attain) to the measure of the stature which belongs to (those with) the fullness of Christ.

5. The Least (of the Apostles…of the saints)
For I (Paul) am the least of the apostles, and (I am) not fit (qualified) to be called an apostle, because I persecuted the church of God.
But by the grace of God I am (and always will be) what I am (by means of His grace), and His grace toward me did not prove vain (to be a bad decision); but I (Paul) labored even more than all of them (the other apostles), yet not I (in the energy of the flesh doing the labor), but the grace of God with(in) me (doing the work).
To me (Paul), the very least of all saints (believers in Christ), this grace was given (to me by God), to preach to the Gentiles the unfathomable riches of Christ…
…and to bring to light what is the administration (oikonomia…dispensation) of the mystery which for ages has been hidden in (THE) God (the Lord Jesus Christ) who created (the) all things ()…

6. A “Called” One
CALLED - kletos
A mode of being, ordained by God…a divine and sovereign invitation…a request to accept a grace gift…an appointment…to bring forth…to designate to a special office…to set apart by an action of God to some special sphere, or manner of being, or subsequent activity…to make someone a possession
“While I (the Lord Jesus Christ) was with them (the apostles), I was keeping them in Your name (Your power) which You (God the Father) have given Me; and I guarded them and not one of them perished but the son of perdition (the son of destruction…Judas Iscariot), so that the Scripture (Psalm 41:9) would be fulfilled.”
Even my close friend (Judas Iscariot) in whom I (the Lord Jesus Christ) trusted, who ate my bread (at the Last Supper), has lifted up his heel against me.

7. Set Apart by God
While they (the five men in verse 1) were ministering to (on behalf of) the Lord and fasting, the Holy Spirit said, “Set apart for Me Barnabas and Saul for the work to which I have called them.”
SET APART - aphorizo
To set off by a boundary…to limit…to exclude from other activities…to appoint…to separate…to sever ties…to take away…to be given a privilege to which we can be committed and dedicated.
For you have heard of my former manner of life in Judaism, how I used to persecute the church of God beyond measure and tried to destroy it…
…and I was advancing in Judaism beyond many of my contemporaries among my countrymen, being more extremely zealous for my ancestral traditions.
But when God (the Father), who had set me apart (aphorizo) even from my mother’s womb and called me through His grace, was pleased//to reveal His Son in(dwelling) me so that I might preach Him (the Lord Jesus Christ) among the Gentiles, I did not immediately consult with flesh and blood (human beings)…
…nor did I go up to Jerusalem to those who were apostles before me; but I went away to Arabia, and returned once more to Damascus.
But the Lord said to him (Ananias), “Go, for he (Paul) is a chosen instrument of Mine, to bear My name before the Gentiles and kings and the sons of Israel;//for I (the Lord Jesus Christ) will show him how much he must suffer for My name’s sake.”

8. Minister of the Gospel of God
MINISTER
A subordinate officer who is the personal attendant of the master.
For I (Paul) would have you know, brethren (believers in Christ in the Galatian region), that the gospel (message) which was preached by me is not according to man (it did not come from man).
For I (Paul) neither received it (the gospel message) from man, nor was I taught it (the gospel message by a man), but I received it (the gospel message) through a (direct) revelation of Jesus (the) Christ (the Messiah).

9. The Apostle to the Gentiles
For this reason I, Paul, the prisoner of Christ Jesus for the sake of you Gentiles —
…if (1) indeed you have heard of the stewardship of God’s grace which was given to me for you (and you have)…
…that by revelation there was made known to me (by God for your benefit) the mystery (doctrines of the Church Age), as I wrote before in brief.
By referring to this, when you read you can understand my insight into the mystery (doctrine) of (the indwelling) Christ (the Messiah)…
…which in other generations was not made known to the sons of men, as it has now been revealed to His holy apostles and prophets in the Spirit (en Pneumati…to those with the indwelling Spirit)…
…to be specific, that the Gentiles are fellow heirs and fellow members of the body (of Christ), and (the Gentiles are) fellow partakers of the promise in (union with) Christ Jesus through the gospel (message)…
…of which (gospel message) I (Paul) was made a minister, according to the gift of God’s grace which was given to me according to the working of His (enabling) power.

10. “The Man In Between,” a Standard for Imperfection
STUART WEBER
The Christian is “the man in between.” With mind and heart committed to righteous principles, the Christian offers to shield others. When the Philistines occupied the south ridge of the valley of Elah, and the Israeli army the opposite ridge, each day the giant of Gath, Goliath, a bully, descended to the valley floor and taunted the champions of Israel. Saul, the king of Israel, head and shoulders above his people, had no heart for being “the man in between” … the position between the bully and Saul’s Israeli army. But Jesse’s kid, David, did have the heart. To David, it was a straightforward proposition. For the good of others, the giant had to be called to account. Packing his simple shepherd’s equipment, a slingshot, David voluntarily stepped between his countrymen and those who would harm them. You know the story. The giant fell…the enemy fled.
GRACE
A free gift given to all mankind by the Creator, expressed by His actions of extending mercy, loving-kindness, salvation, and divine assets to His Creatures… a dimension of divine thought in which God meets human indifference and rebellion with an inexhaustible capacity to forgive and to bless…a divine thought process that underlies God’s entire viewpoint of unconditional love for His Creatures.
“I can do all things through Him who strengthens me (with enabling power).”
