The Lord Jesus Christ Had Faith in His Father’s Plan
My God (the Father), my God (the Father), why have You forsaken me? Far from my deliverance are the words of my groaning.
O my God, I cry by day, but You do not answer; And by night (I cry), but I have no rest.
Yet You (God the Father) are holy, O You who are enthroned upon the praises of Israel.
In You (God the Father) our fathers trusted; They trusted and You delivered them.
To You they cried out and were delivered; In You they trusted and were not disappointed.
But I am (considered) a worm and not a man, a reproach of men and despised by the people.
All who see me sneer at me; they separate with the lip, they wag the head, saying…
“Commit yourself to the Lord; let Him (the Lord…God the Father) deliver him; Let Him (the Lord…God the Father) rescue him (Jesus), because He (Jesus) delights in him (so much).”
Yet You (God the Father) are He who brought me forth from the womb; You made me trust (in faith) when upon my mother’s breasts.
Upon You I was cast from birth; You have been my God from my mother’s womb.
Be not far from me, for trouble is near; for there is none to help.
Many bulls have surrounded me; Strong bulls of Bashan have encircled me.
They open wide their mouth at me, as a ravening and a roaring lion.
I am poured out like water, and all my bones are out of joint; My heart is like wax; it is melted within me.

Have this attitude in yourselves which was also in Christ Jesus,//who, although He existed in the form of God (with the exact same essence as God the Father), did not regard equality with God (the Father) a thing to be grasped (and held)…
…but emptied Himself (deprived Himself of the rightful functions of Deity), taking the form of a bond-servant (doulos), and being made in the likeness of men.
Being found in appearance as a man (true humanity), He humbled (humiliated) Himself by becoming (voluntarily) obedient to the point of death, even death on a Cross.
For this reason also, God (the Father) highly exalted Him, and bestowed on Him the name which is above every name…
…so that at the name of Jesus EVERY KNEE WILL BOW, of those who are in heaven and on earth and under the earth…
…and that every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
Therefore, since the (His…the Lord’s) children share in flesh and blood, He Himself (the Lord Jesus Christ) likewise also partook of the same (flesh and blood), that through death He might render powerless him who had the power of death, that is, the devil…
…knowing that you were not redeemed with perishable things like silver or gold from your futile way of life inherited from your forefathers,//but with precious blood, as of a lamb unblemished
and spotless, the blood of Christ.
(The Lord Jesus) Christ redeemed us from the curse of the Law, having become a curse for us — for it is written, “CURSED IS EVERYONE WHO HANGS ON A TREE —”
