EPH 6:12

For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places.

 

You’ve undoubtedly heard this verse and wondered exactly what is being discussed.  In this lesson we’ll take a look at the reason human history was created by God.

Let us pray...

 

We’re grateful to you, Heavenly Father, for creating us and for the demonstration of Your unconditional love by sending Your Son to die as a substitute, instead of us…thank you for the privilege of studying Your absolute truth...the Word of God…

 

Illuminate for us the reasons that You created us and the reasons You allow human history to progress…

 

We ask this through the power of God the Holy Spirit...in Christ’s name...

TODAY’S STUDY

The Context of Human History

 

Many of you have been studying with Barah Ministries for a part of the nearly seven years we have been in existence.  As a result, you may not have ever heard of the Creator - Creature Conflict, which is the reason human history exists.  God allows human history for the purpose of resolving the conflict between Him and His creatures, and each of us was selected to be a part of the conflict.  Understanding the dynamics of the conflict brings clarity to the reason we have chosen to be Christians and to why we bother to study God’s Word.  Without a feel for the context of human history, bible study can become a disjointed journey through confusion.  With the context of human history, so many things make sense and fall into place.

There are twenty-one ideas that will help bring clarity to God’s Plan for human beings and to where we fit into His plan.

 

The Creator vs. Creature Conflict is the CONTEXT of Divine History.  Romans, Chapter 1, Verse 25 says…

 

ROM 1:25

For they (the fallen angels and unbelievers) exchanged the truth of God for a (Satanic) lie, and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen.

 

A Perfect CREATOR existed before the foundation of the world, that is, before the world existed.  John, Chapter 1, Verse 1 says…

 

JOH 1:1

“In the beginning (not a beginning) was the Word (God the Son), and the Word (God the Son) was with God (the Father), and the Word (God the Son) was God (the same in essence as God the Father).

 

By divine decree, the Triune Godhead held a CONFERENCE in which they comprehended simultaneously all things that ever were to occur and all that ever would be, and at the conference they set forth with certainty all things that would come to pass.  They factored your free will decisions into their decisions.  Acts, Chapter 2, Verse 23 says…

 

ACT 2:23

This (God-)Man (the Lord Jesus Christ), (was) delivered over by the predetermined plan and foreknowledge of God (the Father), and you nailed Him to a Cross by the hands of godless men (unbelievers) and put Him to death.

 

The details of this divine decree, and the details all of divine history, are revealed in the inerrant CANON of Scripture, which is also known as the bible…the Word of God.  First Corinthians, Chapter 2, Verse 16 says…

 

1CO 2:16

For WHO HAS KNOWN THE MIND OF THE LORD (so well), THAT HE WILL (be qualified to) INSTRUCT HIM (No one!)? But we (believers in Christ) have the mind of Christ (the Bible).

 

Second Peter, Chapter 1, Verses 20 and 21 say…

 

2PE 1:20-21

But know this first of all, that no prophecy of Scripture is a matter of one’s own private interpretation, for no prophecy was ever made by an act of human will, but men carried along by the direction of God the Holy Spirit spoke from the exact thinking of THE God, the Lord Jesus Christ.

 

At the conference, the Godhead set forth a CHRONOLOGY, a sequence of events as they would unfold throughout divine history.  Ecclesiastes, Chapter 3, Verse 1 says…

 

ECC 3:1

“There is an appointed time for everything…and there is a time for every event under heaven.”

 

Then, through a single act of CREATION at a single moment in time, the Lord Jesus Christ immediately spoke the universe into existence.  Genesis, Chapter 1, Verse 1…

 

GEN 1:1

In the beginning (which was not a beginning THE) God (Jehovah Elohim…God the Son) created the heavens and the earth.

 

Creatures called angels were present at the creation of the heavens and the earth…a moment described in Job, Chapter 38, Verse 1…we’ll highlight Verse 7…

 

JOB 38:7

When the morning stars sang together and all the sons of God (the Beniha Elohim…angelic creatures) shouted for joy?

 

At a single moment in time, the universe was created in a state of perfection.  Deuteronomy, Chapter 32, Verse 4 says…

 

DEU 32:4a

The Rock! (All of ) His work is perfect…

The most beautiful, the most brilliant, and the greatest of God’s angelic creatures, Satan, became a CONSPIRATOR…Ezekiel, Chapter 28, Verse 12 to 15…

 

EZE 28:12

Thus says the Lord God, “You had the seal of perfection, you were full of wisdom and you were perfect in beauty.”

 

EZE 28:14

“You were the anointed cherub (the Lord’s angel) who covers (a bodyguard), and I (the Lord) placed you there (in that position). You were on the holy mountain of God (the third heaven…God’s residence); you walked in the midst of the stones of fire (you had access to the throne room of heaven).”

 

EZE 28:15

“You were blameless in your ways from the day you were created until unrighteousness (sin) was found in you.”

 

Satan perpetrated a CONSPIRACY that instigated a rebellion against God, causing the fall of ALL angelic creatures.  Isaiah, Chapter 14, Verses 13 and 14 say…

 

ISA 14:13-14

“But you (Satan) said in your heart, ‘I will ascend to the third heaven; I will raise my throne above the stars of God (in the second heaven), and I will sit on the mount of assembly in the recesses of the north (the first heaven). I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will make myself like the Most High.’”

 

Ezekiel, Chapter 28, Verse 16a says…

 

EZE 28:16a

“By the abundance of your trade (rekullah…the trafficking of slander) You (Satan) were internally filled with violence, and you sinned…”

 

All angelic creatures joined in the rebellion…Romans, Chapter 3, Verse 10 says…

 

ROM 3:10

…as it is written, “THERE IS NONE (NO CREATURE WHO IS) RIGHTEOUS, NOT EVEN ONE…

 

All of the angels fell.  All of the angels turned against God.  Thus began the Creator vs. Creature CONFLICT.  Romans, Chapter 1, Verse 25…

 

ROM 1:25

This CATASTROPHE of rebellious thought made God render the earth formless and void…Genesis, Chapter 1, Verse 1 and Verse 2a say…

 

GEN 1:1

In the beginning (which was not a beginning THE) God (Jehovah Elohim…God the Son) created the heavens and the earth.

 

GEN 1:2a

But the earth was became formless and void…

 

The catastrophe of thought resulted in CONDEMNATION for all creatures.

 

Ezekiel, Chapter 28, Verse 16 says…

 

EZE 28:16b

Therefore I (the Lord) have cast you (Satan) as profane from the mountain of God.

 

Yet God in His grace would give His creatures a second chance.  Turn to Jeremiah, Chapter 4, Verse 23…we’ll highlight Verse 27…

 

JER 4:27

For thus says the Lord, “The whole land shall be a desolation (formless and void), Yet I will not execute a complete destruction.”

 

The act of betrayal and rebellion landed angelic creatures in the COURTROOM of the Supreme Court of Heaven.  Genesis, Chapter 1, Verse 2b says…

 

GEN 1:2b

…and darkness was over the surface of the deep…

 

Angels are creatures of light, with free roam of the universe, yet with darkness covering the earth they were confined to planet earth.  A trial was held, an amnesty program was offered to all the angles.  Satan and a group of angels rejected God’s salvation offer.  Revelation, Chapter 12, Verse 4 says…

 

REV 12:4

And his tail swept away a third of the stars of heaven and threw them to the earth.

 

Satan and the reconciliation rejecting angels were sentenced to the Lake of Fire.  Matthew, Chapter 25, Verse 41 says…

 

MAT 25:41

“Then He (the Lord Jesus Christ) will also say to those on His left (Satan and the fallen angels), ‘Depart from Me, accursed ones, into the eternal fire which has been prepared for the devil and his angels…’”

 

Satan and the fallen angels appealed their sentence by assailing God’s character.  They claimed that the verdict of God in the formal trial was both unfair and unloving.  You’ve undoubtedly heard this in your time on earth.  You’ve heard, “How can a loving God cast one of His creatures into the lake of Fire?”  Or you’ve heard, “God’s not fair!” 

 

Perfect God, with unconditional love toward all creatures, especially the reconciliation rejecting angels, and in absolute impartiality and fairness toward them, with His perfect righteousness in view, accepted their appeal, and ordered (re)CONSTRUCTION of formless and void planet earth by God the Holy Spirit.  Genesis, Chapter 1, Verse 2c says… 

 

GEN 1:2c

…and the (Holy) Spirit of God was moving over the surface of the waters.

CREATOR CREATURE CONFLICT OVERVIEW

 

The salvation of condemned creatures could only be satisfactorily accomplished by a just, righteous, and loving Godhead, who sent the Lord Jesus CHRIST, the God-Man, as their physical manifestation, to the CROSS, to pay the penalty for creature betrayal and rebellion.  John, Chapter 19, Verse 30 says… 

 

JOH 19:30

Therefore when the Lord) Jesus Christ had received the sour wine, He said, “It is finished!”

 

First John, Chapter 2, Verse 2…

 

1JO 2:2

…and He Himself (the Lord Jesus Christ) is the propitiation (the ONLY  perfectly satisfactory payment in the eyes of God the Father) for our sins; and not for ours (as believers in Christ) only, but also for those of the whole world (unbelievers as well).

 

Thus every creature has a CHOICE, by means of free will…Joshua, Chapter 24, Verse 15a…

 

JOSHUA 24:15a

“If it is disagreeable in your sight to serve the Lord, choose for yourselves today whom you will serve: whether the gods which your fathers served which were beyond the River, or the gods of the Amorites in whose land you are living…”

 

One choice is CHRISTIANITY, a relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ…

 

JOSHUA 24:15b

“…but as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.”

 

There are many other choices, COUNTERFEITS to Christianity like Religion and Satan Worship, which pervert, distort, and debase the reputation of God’s Person, the essence of God character, and the veracity and effectiveness of God’s Plan, and the efficacy of the Lord’s salvation offer.  The apostle Paul warns in Second Corinthians, Chapter 11, Verse 4…

 

2CO 11:4

For if a false teacher comes and preaches another Jesus whom we have not preached, a false Jesus, and they do…

 

Beware of false teachers!

 

So what’s your CHOICE?  That’s what John, Chapter 3, Verse 36 asks…

 

JOH 3:36

“He who believes in the Son (the Lord Jesus Christ) has eternal life; but he who does not obey the (command to believe in the) Son will not see (eternal) life, but the wrath of God (the Lake of Fire) abides on him.”

 

When you believe in the Lord Jesus Christ, you are a Christian.  Christianity is not a religion; it’s a relationship with the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.  However, there are counterfeits to Christianity…

 

With freedom of choice come the CONSEQUENCES of your choices, whether positive or negative.  Galatians, Chapter 6, Verses 7 and 8…

 

GAL 6:7-8

Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, this he will also reap. For the one who sows to his own flesh will from the flesh reap corruption, but the one who sows to the Spirit will from the Spirit reap eternal life.

 

Hosea, Chapter 8, Verse 7…

 

HOS 8:7

For they sow the wind and they reap the whirlwind (a tornado).

 

The right choice, to be on the Lord Jesus Christ’s team and to learn the truth of His Word, is a cause of CELEBRATION for all eternity.  Colossians, Chapter 2, Verse 15…

 

COL 2:15

When He (God the Father) had disarmed the rulers and authorities, He made a public display of them, having triumphed over them through the Lord Jesus Christ.
