Welcome To

BARAH MINISTRIES

a Christian Church

Rory Clark

Pastor-Teacher

Good Morning!

Welcome to Barah Ministries…a worldwide Christian Church based in Mesa, AZ…my name is Pastor Rory Clark.

When believers in Christ are doing well, they do what is recommended in Colossians, Chapter 3, in the first part of Verse 16...

COL 3:16a

Let the Word of Christ richly dwell within you...

By studying, by meditating on, and by applying the Word of God, it becomes a permanent and abiding part of our lives, and the thoughts of our God, the Lord Jesus Christ, inform and influence every decision.  When believers in Christ come to church, whether it is in resident status or in non-resident status, we come for the purpose of having God’s Word placed prominently in our souls…James, Chapter 1, Verse 21b…

JAM 1:21b

…in humility receive the Word of God implanted, which is able to save your souls.

If we’re not careful, however, we allow such thoughts as these opening thoughts to burden us…let the Word of Christ richly dwell within you…in humility receive the Word of God implanted…as if they are things we need to do.  We must remember that as human beings we don’t have power within ourselves, we borrow power from the one who is leading us.

For Christians, God the Holy Spirit is leading us.  He fills up our deficiencies with His enabling power.  For unbelievers, Satan is leading them.  Satan manufactures a counterfeit power designed to get creatures to believe they can do anything they perceive in their minds they can achieve.

When they find out they can’t he laughs.

Teachers inculcate thoughts as a set of instruction for operation, and they lead believers and unbelievers alike.  As creatures, we are not merely controlled by our own thoughts that originate from our own will.  We listen to and act on the thoughts passed on to us by two beings that are more powerful than us…Satan or God the Holy Spirit.  Galatians, Chapter 5, Verse 17…

GAL 5:17

For the flesh sets its desire against the Spirit, and the Spirit sets its desire against the flesh; for these are in opposition to one another, so that you may not do the things that you please.

As believers in Christ, we are to be extremely mindful of the teachers we select to instruct us.  We are to be hyper-concerned about the quality of the teaching we receive...both the source of the teaching and the messages of the teaching.  Second Peter, Chapter 2, Verse 1…

2PE 2:1

But false prophets also arose among the people (in the past), just as there will also be false teachers among you (right now), who will secretly (insidiously) introduce destructive heresies (from within the church, right alongside the truth), even denying the Master who bought them, bringing swift destruction upon themselves.

Heresy is a form of teaching that does not agree with biblical teaching.  False teachers not only introduce false teaching, they introduce a counterfeit god…a counterfeit Jesus Christ…Second Corinthians, Chapter 11, Verse 4…

2CO 11:4

…if one comes and preaches another Jesus whom we have not preached (and many false teachers do)…

…as believers in Christ, we are not to accept Satan’s false teachers or their false teachings about a false god.

The teachers at the source of all learning, God the Holy Spirit and Satan, use media to get their message across to you.  You choose to tune in to the medium where the teachers are teaching.

<WHERE IS YOUR SOUL TUNED?>

As believers in the Lord Jesus Christ, at any moment in time, you can choose to tune your souls to the influence of Satan at KCOS, which broadcasts the world’s system of thought…or you can choose to tune your soul to the influence of WGOD, which broadcasts the divine system of thought.

Bible study is a time to lay aside the spiritual battle of daily life...the internal

fight between two leaders and two kingdoms for control of your soul.  Instead, it’s time to allow the infiltration of your soul and your spirit with the mind of Christ, the Word of God, so you can have a chance, when you return to the world, to operate with the thinking of the Lord Jesus Christ instead of the thinking of the world.  Philippians, Chapter 2, Verse 5…

PHI 2:5

Have this attitude in yourselves which was also in Christ Jesus…

The Word of God refers to bible study as a time of RENEWING.  As you let God the Holy Spirit fill up your deficiency of thought by leading you into the truths of the Word of God, He unveils the plan of God the Father for your life. Romans, Chapter 12, Verse 2 says...

ROM 12:2

And do not be conformed to this world, but keep on being transformed by God in the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect.

Now is the time to let your Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, through the power of God the Holy Spirit, prepare you in humility to receive the Word implanted, which is able to refresh your souls.

OPENING PRAYER

Let us pray...

We’re grateful, Heavenly Father, for the privilege of studying Your absolute truth...the Word of God…

Thank you for placing in us the will to do those things we choose to do…thank you for not requiring anything of us…thank you for letting us put down the burden of HAVE TO for the freedom of WANT TO…thank you for taking up our burdens for us…

Open our hearts to Your will in this lesson, Father, and help us to do those things which You planned for us to do in eternity past…help us have the vision in our souls to see what You want us to do…give us the courage to do those things…

And as for the people in our lives, help us to not require anything of them…to treat them like You treat us…and to be pleased and astonished as we see what their will indicates about their choices and their thinking…

We ask this through the power of God the Holy Spirit in Christ’s name...Amen.

TODAY’S STUDY

Who are You?

I’ve asked you five questions in the past.  You may remember them…

QUESTION FOR REFLECTION

          Who are you?

          Where did you come from?

          Where are you going?

          How will you get there?

What is your purpose in life?

Most people I have encountered in this life find these questions to be hard questions, especially the first and last…“Who are you?”...and “What is your purpose in life?”  Our focus is on Romans, Chapter 8, Verse 1 and the two ideas in it…the idea of “no condemnation” and the idea of “in Christ Jesus.”

 ROM 8:1

Therefore there is now NO CONDEMNATION for those who are IN CHRIST JESUS.

We have finished our look at “no condemnation.”  In today’s lesson, we may find that the expression “in Christ Jesus” in Romans, Chapter 8, Verse 1 may contain the answer for the toughest of these five questions.  First, a few announcements.

VISIT THE VETS

Pictures

We visited the Vets last Sunday, and one of the things we noticed is how faithful they are to our visits.  The place was packed and it keeps drawing more and more people each time we come.  Pray for veterans around the world, both for their mentality and for their physical ailments.

ROM 8:1

Therefore there is now NO CONDEMNATION for those who are IN CHRIST JESUS.

Why should you, as a believer in Christ, care that you are “in Christ Jesus?”

Well the truth is we don’t care as much about things spiritual as we care about the things of the world.  We don’t care as much about getting to know Christ as we care about Facebook.  In fact, this week I was thinking, what if, at the Judgment Seat of Christ (the place where believers will be evaluated), the Lord Jesus Christ showed us the number of hours we spent getting to know Him, versus the number of hours we spent on Facebook, or with video games, or with any other worldly thing?  Would we be proud?  I fear not.

Being “in Christ Jesus” means being in union with Christ.  It is a spiritual union.  We move from the natural realm to the spiritual realm, which is a COMPLETE CHANGE.  Unbelievers are called natural men (psuchikos).  Believers in Christ are “in the Spirit.”

So why should we, as believers in Christ, care about our union with Christ?

We should care because our union with Christ changed everything.  Our union with Christ causes a complete metamorphosis, a complete FROM-TO, a complete change in every aspect of us…our union with Christ changes who we are.  When someone asks the question, “Who are you?” … the answer is simple…“Who I am is a special one who is ‘in Christ Jesus.’ ”

Your union with Christ changes the answer to the question, “Who are you?”

Your union with Christ changes how God sees you.  There’s the story of the two boys that illustrates…two boys came in to see a king…one was the King’s son, and he was completely clean…one was the friend of the King’s son, and he was completely covered in mud.  The King welcomed the muddy young boy to his lap, and he said, “Any friend of my son is a friend of mine.”  The dirt of your sins is no problem for the king, because of His Son.  Your union with Christ ought to change how you see yourself and how you see the world.  Let’s take a music break and tehn we’ll learn more about how God sees you.

TODAY’S STUDY

Who are You?

How does God the Father see us now that we are “in Christ Jesus?”  He see the new “Who are you?”

We have a POSITION… we are changed from “in Adam to “in Christ.”  First Corinthians, Chapter 15, Verse 22…

1CO 15:22

For as “in Adam” all are set to die the second death, so also “in Christ” all will be made alive.

We are SAVED…we are changed from “condemnation to salvation.”  Second Timothy, Chapter 1, Verses 8 and 9…

2TI 1:8

Therefore do not be ashamed of the testimony of our Lord or of me His prisoner, but join with me in suffering for the gospel according to the power of God…

2TI 1:9

…who has saved us and called us with a holy calling, not according to our works, but according to His own purpose and grace which was granted us in Christ Jesus from all eternity…

We are SECURE…we are changed from “uncertainty about the future to certainty about the future.”  Romans, Chapter 8, Verses 38 to 39…

ROM 8:38

For I (Paul) am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers…

ROM 8:39

…nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing, will be able to separate us believers in Christ from the unconditional love of God the Father, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
We are FAMILY…we are changed from “natural to spiritual.”  First Corinthians, Chapter 12, Verse 13…

1CO 12:13

For by one Spirit we were all baptized into one body, whether Jews or Greeks, whether slaves or free, and we were all made to drink of one Spirit.

Second Corinthians, Chapter 6, Verses 14 to 18…and Second Corinthians, Chapter 7, Verse 1…

2CO 6:14

Do not be bound together with unbelievers; for what partnership have righteousness and lawlessness, or what fellowship has light with darkness?

2CO 6:15

Or what harmony has Christ with Belial, or what has a believer in common with an unbeliever?

2CO 6:16

Or what agreement has the temple of God with idols? For we are the temple of the living God; just as God said, “I will dwell in them and walk among them; and I will be their God, and they shall be My people.”

2CO 6:17

“Therefore, come out from their midst and be separate,” says the Lord.

“And do not touch what is unclean; and I will welcome you.”

2CO 6:18

“And I will be a father to you, and you shall be sons and daughters to Me,”

says the Lord Almighty.

2CO 7:1

Therefore, having these promises, beloved (divinely loved ones), let us cleanse ourselves from all defilement of flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.

Galatians, Chapter 3, Verses 26 to 28…

GAL 3:26

For you believers in Christ are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus.

GAL 3:27

For all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ.

GAL 3:28

There is neither Jew nor Greek (no racial distinction), there is neither slave nor free man (no social distinction), there is neither male nor female )no gender distinction); for you are all one in Christ Jesus.

We are HEIRS…we are changed from “disinheritance to inheritance.”  Ephesians, Chapter 1, Verses 13 and 14…

EPH 1:13

In Christ, you also, after listening to the message of truth, the gospel of your salvation—having also believed, you were sealed in union with Him with God the Holy Spirit of promise…

EPH 1:14

…who is given as a pledge of our inheritance, with a view to the redemption of God’s own possession, to the praise of His glory.

Second Peter, Chapter 1, Verse 4…

2PE 1:4

For by these (the gifts of the life and godliness) He has granted to us believers in Christ His precious and magnificent promises, so that by them you may become partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world by lust.

We have a NEW IDENTITY…we are changed from “old man to new man.”  Second Corinthians, Chapter 5, Verses 17…

2CO 5:17

Therefore if anyone is in Christ, and all believers in Christ are, he is a new creature; the old things passed away; behold, new things have come.

Colossians, Chapter 1, Verse 27…

COL 1:27

…to whom God willed to make known glorious riches of this mystery among the Gentiles, which is Christ indwelling you, the hope of glory.

We have the RESURRECTION LIFE…we are changed from “death to life.”  John, Chapter 10, Verse 10…

JOH 10:10

I came that believers in Christ may have the life, and have it abundantly.

We are REDEEMED…we are changed from “slaves to free.”  Romans, Chapter 5, Verse 10…

ROM 5:10

For if while we were enemies we were reconciled to God the Father through the death of His Son, much more, having been reconciled, we shall be saved by His life.

We are GUIDED…we are changed from “directionless to destined.”  James, Chapter 1, Verse 5…

JAM 1:5

But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God the Father, who gives to all generously and without reproach, and wisdom will be given to him.

We are God’s FRIENDS…we are changed from “enemies to best friends forever.”  John, Chapter 15, Verse 15…

JOH 15:15

No longer do I call you slaves, for the slave does not know what his master is doing; but I have called you friends, for all things that I have heard from My Father I have made known to you.

Our God is a WEAPON available to us…we are changed from “human solutions to supernatural solutions” through prayer.  Hebrews, Chapter 4, Verse 16…

HEB 4:16

Therefore let us draw near with confidence to the throne of grace, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.

We have a direct path of COMMUNICATION with Him…we are changed from “going through intermediaries to direct contact with God.”  Matthew, Chapter 6, Verses 7 and 8…

MAT 6:7

“And when you are praying, do not use meaningless repetition as the Gentiles do, for they suppose that they will be heard for their many words.”

MAT 6:8

So do not be like them; for your Father knows what you need before you ask Him.

We are RIGHTEOUS…we are changed from “ungodly to godly.”  Second Corinthians, Chapter 5, Verses 21…

2CO 5:21

God the Father made the Lord Jesus Christ who knew no sin to be sin on our behalf, so that we might become the righteousness of God in union with Him.

We live by FAITH…we are changed from “unbelief to faith.”  Galatians, Chapter 2, Verse 20…

GAL 2:20

I have been crucified with Christ; and it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me unconditionally and gave Himself up for me.

Galatians, Chapter 3, Verse 11…

GAL 3:11

Now that no one is justified by the Law before God is evident; for, “The righteous man shall live by faith.”

Hebrews, Chapter 11, Verse 1…

HEB 11:1

Now faith is the assurance that we already have the things hoped for, the conviction that we already have the things not seen.

We are God’s WORK IN PROGRESS…we are changed from “glorifying self to glorifying Christ.”  Philippians, Chapter 1, Verse 6…

PHI 1:6

For I (Paul) am confident of this very thing, that God the Father who began a good work in you will perfect it until the day of Christ Jesus.

…God will finish what He starts in us.

Who are you?  You are the child of a King.  Enjoy the journey.  Forget the old things.

When the Lord Jesus Christ

Promises Salvation, It’s a Guarantee!

ROM 3:10

…as it is written, “There is none righteous, not even one”

ROM 5:8

But God the Father demonstrates His own unconditional love toward all mankind, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.

JOH 3:17

For God the Father did not send the Son (the Lord Jesus Christ) into the world to condemn the world, but the Father sent His Son into the world that the world might be saved through believing in Him.

JOH 1:12

But as many as received the Lord (taking advantage of the free gift of salvation), to them He gave the right (once and for all time) to become children of God…to those who believe in Christ’s name…
