For the word of the Lord has sounded forth from you, not only in Macedonia and Achaia, but also in every place your faith toward God has gone forth, so that we have no need to say anything.
For they themselves report about us what kind of a reception we had with you, and how you turned to God from idols to serve a living and true God…
…invalidated the Word of God for the sake of…tradition.
“You hypocrites, rightly did Isaiah prophesy of you: ‘THIS PEOPLE HONORS ME WITH THEIR LIPS, BUT THEIR HEART IS FAR AWAY FROM ME.//BUT IN VAIN DO THEY WORSHIP ME, TEACHING AS DOCTRINES THE PRECEPTS OF MEN.’”
And I, brethren, could not speak to you as (I would speak) to spiritual men, but (I must speak to you) as (if I am talking) to men of flesh (unbelievers…those influenced totally by the world), (I must speak to you) as (if I am talking) to infants in Christ (because I am talking to infants in Christ).
(Because you are infants in Christ…new believers) I gave you milk to drink, not solid food; for you were not yet able to receive it (solid food). Indeed, even now you are not yet able (to receive solid food)…
…for you are still fleshly (thinking like men of flesh…doing the deeds of the flesh). For since there is jealousy and strife among you, are you not fleshly (thinking like men of flesh), and are you not walking like mere men (are you not living a lifestyle similar to the lifestyle of unbelievers which is completely influence by the world)?
For when one (of you) says, “I am of Paul,” and another, “I am of Apollos,” are you not (thinking like) mere men (unbelievers)?
What then is Apollos? And what (then) is Paul? (They are merely) Servants through whom you believed, even as the Lord gave opportunity to each one (to evangelize to you).
I (Paul) planted (the seeds of the gospel message), Apollos watered (the seeds in you), but God was causing the growth (to occur).
So then neither the one who plants nor the one who waters is anything, but God who causes the growth (is everything).
Now he who plants and he who waters are one 9as members of the body of Christ); but each will receive his own reward according to his own labor.
For we (believers in Christ) are (all) God’s fellow workers; you are God’s field, God’s building.
According to the grace of God which was given to me, like a wise master builder I laid a foundation (on top of the divine foundation), and another (the Lord Jesus Christ) is building on it (by causing the growth). But each man must be careful how he builds on it (the divine foundation).
For no man can lay a foundation other than the one which is laid, which is (the Lord) Jesus Christ.
And according to the Law, one may almost say, all things are cleansed with blood, and without shedding of blood there is no forgiveness.
My little children (believers in Christ), I am writing these things to you so that you may not sin. And if (1) anyone sins (and we believers do after salvation), we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous…
…and He Himself is the propitiation (the ONLY perfectly satisfactory payment) for our sins; and not for ours only (as believers in Christ), but also for those (sins) of the whole world (unbelievers as well).
For He (God the Father) rescued us from the domain of darkness (condemnation at physical birth), and transferred us to the kingdom of His beloved Son (the Lord Jesus Christ),//in (union with) whom we (believers in Christ) have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.
It was for freedom that (the Lord Jesus) Christ set us free; therefore keep standing firm (in the freedom) and do not be subject again to a yoke of slavery.
For you (believers in Christ) have not received a spirit of slavery leading to fear again, but you have received a spirit of adoption as sons…”
I (Paul) am amazed that you (believers in the Galatian region) are so quickly deserting Him (God the Father) who called you by the grace of (the Lord Jesus) Christ, for a different gospel (message)…
…which is really not another (valid gospel); only there are some (teachers) who are disturbing you and want to distort the gospel of Christ.
But even if we (Meaning Paul), or (even if) an angel from heaven, should preach to you a gospel contrary to what we have preached to you (faith alone in Christ alone for salvation), he is to be accursed!
As we have said before, so I (Paul) say again now, if (1) any man is preaching to you a gospel contrary to what you received (from God, and many are), he is to be accursed!
For am I (Paul) now seeking the favor of men, or of God? Or am I striving to please men? If I were still trying to please men, I would not be a bond-servant of Christ.
For I would have you know, brethren, that the gospel which was preached by me is not according to man.
For I neither received it from man, nor was I taught it, but I received it through a revelation of Jesus Christ.
But now faith, hope, love, abide (in the sphere of) these three; but the greatest of these is (unconditional) love.
But resist him (Satan), (and stand) firm in your faith, knowing that the same experiences of suffering are being accomplished by your brethren who are in the world.
After you have suffered for a little while, the God of all grace, who called you to His eternal glory in Christ, will Himself perfect, confirm, strengthen and establish you.
Trust in the Lord with all your heart And do not lean on your own understanding.//In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He will make your paths straight.
The Lord is the one who goes ahead of you; He will be with you. He will not fail you or forsake you. Do not fear or be dismayed
Therefore the Lord longs to be gracious to you, And therefore He waits on high to have compassion on you. For the Lord is a God of justice; How blessed are all those who long for Him.
