TODAY’S STUDY - Romans 1: Are believers in Christ sinners?

…and the greatest of these is unconditional love.

For we also once were foolish ourselves (while unbelievers), disobedient, deceived, enslaved to various lusts and pleasures, spending our life in malice and envy, hateful, hating one another.

But when the kindness of God our Savior (the Lord Jesus Christ) and His (unconditional) love for mankind appeared…

He (God the Father) saved us, not on the basis of deeds which we have done in (self)-righteousness, but according to His mercy, by the washing of regeneration and (through) renewing by the (baptism of God the) Holy Spirit…

…whom He (God the Father) poured out upon us richly through Jesus Christ our Savior…

…so that being justified by His (God the Father’s) grace we would be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life.

And the great dragon was thrown down, the serpent of old who is called the devil and Satan, who deceives the whole world; he was thrown down to the earth, and his angels were thrown down with him.

“For false Christs and false prophets will arise and will show great signs and wonders, so as to mislead, if possible, even the elect.”

But I (Paul) am afraid that, (just) as the serpent deceived Eve by his craftiness, your minds will be led astray (by Satan) from the simplicity and purity of devotion to Christ.

“Treat others the same way you want them to treat you.”

“If (1) you love those who love you (and of course you do), what credit is that to you? For even sinners love those who love them.”

“If (1) you do good to those who do good to you (and of course you do), what credit is that to you? For even sinners do the same.”

“If you lend to those from whom you expect to receive (and of course you do), what credit is that to you? Even sinners lend to sinners in order to receive back the same amount.”

“But love your enemies, and do good, and lend, expecting nothing in return; and your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High; for He Himself is kind to ungrateful and evil men.”

“Be merciful, just as your Father is merciful.”

For while we were still helpless, at the right time Christ died for the ungodly.

For one will hardly die for a righteous man (a believer in Christ); though perhaps for the good man someone would dare even to die.

But God (the Father) demonstrates His own love toward us (all mankind), in that while we were yet sinners (unbelievers), Christ died for us.

Much more then, having now been justified by His blood, we (believers in Christ) shall be saved from the wrath of God (the Father) through (believing in) Him (the Lord Jesus Christ).

For if (1) while we were enemies we were reconciled to God (the Father) through the death of His Son (the Lord Jesus Christ), much more, having been reconciled, we (believers in Christ) shall be saved (delivered) by His (Zoe) life (the resurrection life…the eternal life).

And not only this, but we also exult in God (the Father) through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received the reconciliation.

For as through the one man (Adam’s) disobedience the many were made sinners, even so through the obedience of the One (the Lord Jesus Christ) the many will be made righteous.

For as through the one man (Adam’s) disobedience the many were made sinners, even so through the obedience of the One (the Lord Jesus Christ) the many will be made righteous.

For those whom He (God the Father) foreknew, He also predestined to become conformed to the image of His Son, so that He (the Lord Jesus Christ) would be the firstborn among many brethren…

…and these whom He predestined, He also called; and these whom He called, He also justified; and these whom He justified, He also glorified.

But we know that the (Mosaic) Law is good, if one uses it lawfully…

…realizing the fact that law is not made for a righteous person, but for those who are lawless and rebellious, for the ungodly and sinners, for the unholy and profane, for those who kill their fathers or mothers, for murderers…

…and immoral men and homosexuals and kidnappers and liars and perjurers, and whatever else is contrary to sound teaching…

…according to the glorious gospel of the blessed God, with which I have been entrusted.

For it is time for judgment to begin with the household of God; and if it begins with us first, what will be the outcome for those who do not obey the gospel of God?

AND IF IT IS WITH DIFFICULTY THAT THE RIGHTEOUS IS SAVED, WHAT WILL BECOME OF THE GODLESS MAN AND THE SINNER?

And Jesus answered and said to them, It is not those who are well who need a physician, but those who are sick.//I have not come to call the righteous but (I have come to call) sinners (unbelievers) to repentance (to a change of mind about Christ).”

Now these (believers at Berea) were more noble-minded than those (believers) in Thessalonica, for they received the word (of God from Paul) with great eagerness, examining the Scriptures daily to see whether these things were so.

Even so (believers in Christ) consider yourselves to be dead to (the sovereignty of the) sin (nature), but alive to God (the Father) in (unbreakable union with) Christ Jesus.

Therefore do not let (the dead) sin (nature) reign (as Sovereign) in your mortal body so that you obey its lusts…

…and do not go on presenting the members of your body to (the) sin (nature) as instruments of unrighteousness; but present yourselves to God as those (who are) alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness to God.

For sin shall not be master over you, for you (Church Age believers) are not under (the Mosaic) law but (you are) under (the law of) grace.

FOR the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and (against all) unrighteousness of men (who are unbelievers) who suppress the truth (of the gospel) in unrighteousness.

Trust in the Lord with all your heart And do not lean on your own understanding. // In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He will make your paths straight.

The Lord is the one who goes ahead of you; He will be with you. He will not fail you or forsake you. Do not fear or be dismayed

Therefore the Lord longs to be gracious to you, And therefore He waits on high to have compassion on you. For the Lord is a God of justice; How blessed are all those who long for Him.
