Welcome to Barah Ministries…a worldwide Christian Church based in Mesa, AZ…my name is Pastor Rory Clark.
Second Corinthians, Chapter 13, Verse 14 says…
The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, the unconditional love of God the Father, and the fellowship of God the Holy Spirit, be with you all.
The members of the Godhead are a team, each with a unique responsibility. God the Holy Spirit is, among other things, the Creator of Fellowship. John, Chapter 16, Verses 12 to 14 say…
“I (the Lord Jesus Christ) have many more things to say to you (my apostles), but you cannot bear (to receive) them now.”
Why? They weren’t listening! They were preoccupied with sadness at the departing of the Lord.
“But when He, God the Holy Spirit of truth, comes, He will guide you into all the truth; for He will not speak on His own initiative, but whatever God the Holy Spirit hears (from God the Father), He will speak; and He will disclose to you what is to come.”
“God the Holy Spirit will glorify Me (the Lord Jesus Christ), for He will take of Mine and will disclose it to you.”
God the Holy Spirit is the One who makes everything known to us by teaching us the Word of God. God the Holy Spirit feeds us. Here are a few words of wisdom…

Let us pray...
We’re grateful, Heavenly Father, for the privilege of studying Your absolute truth...the Word of God…
Help us get to know God the Holy Spirit and help us learn what You provided Him to do for us…

TODAY’S STUDY
God the Holy Spirit is an Unsung Hero
The Holy Spirit is God. He is not an “it.” He is not a divine influence. He is not a fleecy white cloud. He is not a ghost. He is not a concept. He is a Person possessing will, intellect and emotions. He is God -- with all the attributes of Deity. He is the third person of the Trinity -- co-equal, co-infinite, and co-eternal with God the Father and God the Son. There is only one God, but He manifests Himself in three separate and distinct persons, whom we call the Trinity. God the Holy Spirit is one of those Persons. In this lesson, we’ll continue our tour of the bible to see some of the roles He plays in human history. First, a few announcements.

God the Holy Spirit is an Unsung Hero
We’re in transition between Romans, Chapter 7 and Romans, Chapter 8…and in Romans, Chapter 8 we’ll be meeting God the Holy Spirit, the Unsung Hero of the Triune Godhead. I found it fascinating last week to go through the bible and to highlight some of the things God the Holy Spirit does…so I’d like to continue that in this lesson. The perfect biblical lesson has never been written, but when it is, I am convinced that it will be all bible verses. This lesson hopes to come close. Let’s learn a few things about God the Holy Spirit…
God the Holy Spirit convinces the unbeliever that He needs a Savior…John, Chapter 16, Verses 8 to 11…
And He (God the Holy Spirit), when He comes, will convict the world concerning sin and righteousness and judgment…
To “convict” means to convince of guilt…the Hoy Spirit makes the unbeliever aware that he is on the road to the Lake of Fire…thus needing a Savior…
…concerning (the ultimate) sin, because they do not believe in Me…
…and concerning righteousness, because I go to the Father and you no longer see Me (to prove through death and resurrection that I am God)…
…and concerning judgment, because the ruler of this world has (already) been judged.
An unbeliever who thinks he will not suffer the same fate as Satan is sadly mistaken.
God the Holy Spirit baptized the new believer, placing him into permanent and unbreakable union with Christ…Mark, Chapter 1, Verse 8…
“I (John the Baptist) baptized you with water; but He (the Lord Jesus Christ) will baptize you with the Holy Spirit.”
God the Holy Spirit regenerates the new believer, moving them from spiritual death to spiritual life…Colossians, Chapter 2, Verses 12 and 13…
…having been buried with Him (the Lord Jesus Christ) in baptism (by the Spirit), in which you were also raised up with Him (the Lord Jesus Christ) through faith in the working of (the) God, who raised Him from the dead.
When you were spiritually dead in your transgressions and the uncircumcision of your flesh, He (God the Holy Spirit) made you alive together (in union) with Him (the Lord Jesus Christ), having forgiven us all our transgressions…
God the Holy Spirit indwells every believer, actually living inside of them as a source of power…Romans, Chapter 8, Verse 11…
But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead indwells you, and He does, He who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you.
God the Holy Spirit gives a signature guarantee of your eternal security…the sealing of the Spirit…Ephesians, Chapter 4, Verse 30…
Do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption.
God the Holy Spirit dispenses your spiritual gift…First Corinthians, Chapter 12, Verses 4 to 11…
Now there are varieties of gifts, but all from the same Spirit.
And there are varieties of ministries, and but all from the same Lord.
There are varieties of effects, but all from the same God who works all things in all persons.
But to each one is given the manifestation of God the Holy Spirit for the common good.
For to one is given the word of wisdom through the Spirit, and to another the word of knowledge according to the same Spirit…
…to another faith by the same Spirit, and to another gifts of healing by the one Spirit…
…and to another the effecting of miracles, and to another prophecy, and to another the distinguishing of spirits, to another various kinds of tongues, and to another the interpretation of tongues.
But one and the same Spirit works all these things, distributing to each one individually just as He wills.
God the Holy Spirit compensates for our deficiencies…Ephesians, Chapter 5, Verse 18…
And do not get drunk with wine, for that is dissipation, but keep on be(ing) filled with the Spirit…
God the Holy Spirit mentors us…Galatians, Chapter 5, Verse 16…
But I (Paul) say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not (not ever!) carry out the desire of the flesh.
First Corinthians, Chapter 2, Verses 12 and 13…
Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, so that we may know the things freely given to us by God…
…which things we also speak, not in words taught by human wisdom, but in those words taught by the Spirit, combining spiritual thoughts with spiritual words.
Revelation, Chapter 2, Verse 11…
‘He who has an ear, let him hear what God the Holy Spirit says to the churches. He who overcomes (all believers in Christ) will not be hurt by the second death (in the Lake of Fire).’

God the Holy Spirit is an Unsung Hero
God the Holy Spirit leads us…Romans, Chapter 8, Verse 14…
For all who are being led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God.
Galatians, Chapter 5, Verse 18…
But if you are led by the Spirit, and all believers in Christ are, you are not under the Law.
God the Holy Spirit is our spokesman…Matthew, Chapter 10, Verse 20…
For it is not you who speak, but it is God the Holy Spirit of your Father who speaks in you.
The Lord Jesus Christ calls God the Holy Spirit the “Helper” … John,
Chapter 14, Verse 16…
“I (the Lord Jesus Christ) will ask God the Father, and He will give you another Helper (God the Holy Spirit), that He may be with you forever…”
The Greek word translated “Helper” is parakletos…“one who comes powerfully the assistance of another” …
The Lord Jesus Christ calls God the Holy Spirit the “Spirit of Truth” … John, Chapter 15, Verse 26…
“When the Helper (parakletos) comes, whom I will send to you from God the Father, that is the Spirit of Truth who proceeds from God the Father, He will testify about Me…”
God the Holy Spirit is the Spirit of Grace…Hebrews, Chapter 10, Verse 29…
How much severer punishment do you think he will deserve who has trampled under foot the Son of God, and has regarded as unclean the blood of the covenant by which he was sanctified, and has insulted the Spirit of grace?
God the Holy Spirit is a fighter…Galatians, Chapter 5, Verse 17…
For the flesh sets its desire against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; for these are in opposition to one another, so that you may not do the things that you please.
God the Holy Spirit is the Spirit of Glory…First Peter, Chapter 4, Verse 14…
If you believers in Christ are reviled for the name of Christ, and you are, you are blessed, because the Spirit of glory and the Spirit of God rests on you.
First Thessalonians, Chapter 2, Verses 9 to 12…
For you recall, brethren, our labor and hardship, how working night and day so as not to be a burden to any of you, we proclaimed to you the gospel of God.
You are witnesses, and so is God, how devoutly and uprightly and blamelessly we behaved toward you believers…
…just as you know how we were exhorting and encouraging and imploring each one of you as a father would his own children…
…so that you would walk in a manner worthy of the God who calls you into His own kingdom and glory.
God the Holy Spirit is the Eternal Spirit…Hebrews, Chapter 9, Verse 14…
…how much more will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered Himself without blemish to God, cleanse your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?
God the Holy Spirit is the One who sanctifies you…setting you apart for privileges…Second Thessalonians, Chapter 2, Verse 13…
But we should always give thanks to God the Father for you, brethren beloved by the Lord, because God the Father has chosen you from the beginning for salvation through sanctification by God the Holy Spirit and faith in the truth.
First Peter, Chapter 1, Verses 1 and 2…
Peter, an apostle of Jesus Christ, to those who reside as aliens, scattered throughout Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, Asia, and Bithynia, who are chosen…
…according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, by the sanctifying work of the Spirit, to obey Jesus Christ and be sprinkled with His blood: May grace and peace be yours in the fullest measure.
God the Holy Spirit is the producer of fruit…Galatians, Chapter 5, Verses 22 and 23…
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law.
God the Holy Spirit is the author of Scripture…Second Peter, Chapter 1, Verses 20 and 21…
But know this first of all, that no prophecy of Scripture is a matter of one’s own interpretation…
…for no prophecy was ever made by an act of human will, but men moved by the Holy Spirit spoke from God.
God the Holy Spirit is casts out demons…Matthew, Chapter 12, Verse 28…
But if I cast out demons by the Spirit of God, then the kingdom of God has come upon you.
God the Holy Spirit is the provider of enabling power…Romans, Chapter 15, Verse 13…
Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that you will abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.
First John, Chapter 3, Verse 24…
The one who keeps His commandments abides in Him, and He in him. We know by this that He abides in us, by the Spirit whom He has given us.
God the Holy Spirit is the Source of THE LIFE…Galatians, Chapter 5, Verse 25…
If we believers in Christ live by the Spirit, and we do, let us also walk by the Spirit.
God the Holy Spirit is the One renewing our minds…Titus, Chapter 3, Verse 5…
He (the Lord Jesus Christ) saved us, not on the basis of deeds which we have done in (self-)righteousness, but according to His mercy, by the washing of regeneration and by the renewing by the Holy Spirit…
We’ll continue to learn about our unsung hero, God the Holy Spirit, in the lessons to come…
When the Lord Jesus Christ
Promises Salvation, It’s a Guarantee!
…as it is written, “There is none righteous, not even one”
But God the Father demonstrates His own unconditional love toward all mankind, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
For God the Father did not send the Son (the Lord Jesus Christ) into the world to condemn the world, but the Father sent His Son into the world that the world might be saved through believing in Him.
But as many as received the Lord (taking advantage of the free gift of salvation), to them He gave the right (once and for all time) to become children of God…to those who believe in Christ’s name…
