Hi there!

My name is Rory Clark and I am the Pastor of Barah Ministries…a worldwide Christian Church based in Mesa, AZ

I have a question for you…

What Do You Know About God?

These ten-minute lessons will introduce you to God and will make you aware of some of His attributes.  To help you remember the Lord’s attributes, we’ll use The Creator Clock to help you recognize a few of the many things that are unique and special about your CREATOR.  Tick Tock…what time is it on the Creator Clock?

It’s Six O’clock…

TODAY’S LESSON

God is Knowledgeable

How important is knowledge?  In the most used and most famous book ever written on warfare, The Art of War, author Sun Tzu says…

SUN TZU…THE ART OF WAR

If you know yourself and you know your enemy

You need not fear the result of 100 battles.

If you know only yourself and not your enemy

For every victory you gain you will sustain a defeat.

If you know neither yourself nor your enemy

You will succumb in every battle.

In warfare, knowledge, especially advance knowledge, is critical for sustaining life.

How important is knowledge to you?  What if you could know what Apple stock will do in the next year?  What if you could know if your favorite football team is going to win or lose tomorrow?  At the very least, that would mean you could save yourself three hours of time!  What if you knew the exact moment of your death?  I’d never want to know that.

Well God knows all of those, because God is OMNISCIENT.  God knows all that is knowable.  God knew about Google before Google was Google…in fact, God WAS Google before Google became Google…and today, God knows infinitely more than Google…just to put His omniscience in perspective.

God knows EVERYTHING.

God knows you.  King David says of God, in Psalm 139, Verses 1 to 4…

Psalm 139:1

O Lord, You have searched me and known me.

Psalm 139:2

You know when I sit down and when I rise up; You understand my thought from afar.

Psalm 139:3

You scrutinize my path and my lying down, and are intimately acquainted with all my ways.

Psalm 139:4

Even before there is a word on my tongue, behold, O Lord, You know it all.

Psalm 139, Verses 15 and 16…

Psalm 139:15

My frame was not hidden from You, when I was made in secret, and skillfully wrought in the depths of the earth…

Psalm 139:16

Your eyes have seen my unformed substance; and in Your book were written

all the days that were ordained for me, when as yet there was not one of them (actually lived).

Funny…the thing we want most from others…that they know us intimately and that they understand us…God knew long before He even created you.  God has always know everything about you.

God knows me…Matthew, Chapter 10, Verse 30 says…

Matthew 10:30

But the very hairs of your head are all numbered.

Both of them!  :)

God knows everyone.  Proverbs 15, Verse 3…

Proverbs 15:3

The eyes of the Lord are in every place, watching the evil and the good.

God’s knowledge is thorough…First Chronicles, Chapter 28, Verse 9…

First Chronicles 28:9

“As for you, my son Solomon, know the God of your father, and serve Him with a whole heart and a willing mind; for the Lord searches all hearts, and understands every intent of the thoughts. If you seek Him, He will let you find Him; but if you forsake Him, He will reject you forever.”

One of the great Christian songs is “Indescribable” … sung best, in my opinion, by Chris Tomlin…and a line from the song says…

INDESCRIBABLE

You placed the stars in the sky and you know them by name!

It’s a take off on Psalm 147, Verses 4 and 5…

PSA 147:4

The Lord counts the number of the stars; He gives names to all of them.

PSA 147:5

Great is our Lord and abundant in strength; His understanding is infinite.

That’s amazing knowledge…infinite knowledge…to know every star, which number in the millions of billions, and to know every one of them by name simultaneously… to know every grain of sand on every seashore.

God knows everything in advance.  He tells us things and they come true.  He told Isaiah to report of an event far in advance of it happening…Isaiah, Chapter 7, Verse 14…

Isaiah 7:14

Therefore the Lord Himself will give you a sign: behold, a virgin will be with child and bear a son, and she will call His name Immanuel.

…and of course the event came true.  The Lord Jesus Christ came to earth and tabernacled among us.  God knows what lies ahead for you, for me, and for all mankind.  Because God knows all that is knowable, you can’t sneak up on Him…you can’t surprise Him…you can’t fool Him.  God is not in the process of learning…He is at the destination of knowing everything.

So what?  God is knowledgeable.  So what?  Well I don’t know about you, but I like it that the Lord Jesus Christ, our God, who holds the universe together by the Word of His Power, knows what He is doing.  He always has…He does now, and He always will know everything.  Paul proclaims the feelings associated with this fact…Romans, Chapter 11, Verses 33 to 36…

Romans 11:33

Oh, the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and the knowledge of God! How unsearchable are His judgments and unfathomable His ways!

Romans 11:34

For who has known the mind of the Lord, or who became His counselor?

Romans 11:35

Or who has first given to Him that it might be paid back to him again?

Romans 11:36

For from Him and through Him and to Him are all things. To Him be the glory forever. Amen.

Glory indeed.  What a great thing to have a God who knows everything, especially a God who knows exactly what He is doing.  Here’s what I wonder…I wonder when God allows things to happen that you don’t like or understand, do you get it that He knows what He is doing?
