Hi there!

Welcome to Barah Ministries…a Christian Church based in Mesa, AZ…my name is Pastor Rory Clark.

I have a question for you…

What Do You Know About God?

These ten-minute lessons introduce you to God and they make you aware of the things that are unique and special about your CREATOR…and we use The Creator Clock to help you remember the Lord’s essence.  Tick Tock…what time is it on the Creator Clock?

It’s Five O’clock…

TODAY’S BIBLE LESSON

God is RIGHTEOUS…So What?

We’ve learned quite a bit about God by taking a tour of the Creator Clock.  We know that…

<CREATOR CLOCK SLIDE…pointing to four o’clock>

…at four o’clock on The Creator Clock, GOD is FAIR.  We can always count on God to be judicial in His handling of everything in our lives.  Colossians, Chapter 4, Verse 1 says…

Colossians 4:1

Masters, grant to your slaves justice and fairness, knowing that you too have a fair Master in heaven.

God is not partial…God cannot be bought…God treats everyone with total fairness.  At five o’clock on The Creator Clock…

God is RIGHTEOUS!  So what?  The “so what” for me is that God has absolute standards, so I always know where I stand with Him.  There is a diseased expression that comes from the lips of so many people today… “It’s all good…it’s all good!”  The diseased expression that came before it is, “It’s all relative.”  What a bunch of hooey!  Thank the heavens that a righteous God does not operate in a relative and arbitrary manner.

There are the two choices…relative or absolute.  With relative thinking, the line between what is right and what is wrong is blurred.  Of course, all of us would prefer to think in a relative way so we can think that everything we do is okay.  The truth is, some things we do work and some things we do don’t work.  God makes sure we know which is which.

God is righteous.  Psalm 145:17 says…

Psalm 145:17

The Lord is righteous in all His ways and kind in all His deeds.

Psalm 71:19 says…

Psalm 71:19

For Your righteousness, O God, reaches to the heavens, You who have done great things; O God, who is like You?

God is the only righteous One in all of the universe, so we can definitely learn from Him.  Everything He does is perfect…everything He does works…so we do well to follow His absolute standards if we expect things to go well in our lives.

Said another way, God is black and white.  Revelation, Chapter 3, Verses 15 and 16 say this…

Revelation 3:15

‘I know your deeds, that you are neither cold nor hot; I wish that you were cold or hot.’

Revelation 3:16

‘So because you are lukewarm (relative), and neither hot nor cold (absolute), I will vomit you out of My mouth.’

The righteous God wants us to be black and white…to be one way about a thing…to tell ourselves the truth of where we really stand in a matter.  Do you?  Do you tell yourself the truth in all things?

For example, take any goal you want to accomplish.  The truth is, you are either advancing toward that goal or you are moving away from the goal.  How do you know which is which?  You just look at the evidence.

The person who is relative in his thinking deceives himself by saying, “I’m getting better.  I’m moving toward my goal.  Maybe not as fast as some people would like.  But I’m getting there.”  The person with relative thinking is lying to himself.

The person with absolute thinking is saying, “Here is the tangible evidence of my progress toward my goal.”  And if there is no evidence of progress, the absolute thinker says, “I’m behind.”

There is nothing righteous about any of us.  Romans, Chapter 3, Verse 10 says…

Romans 3:10

…as it is written, “There is no creature who is righteous, not even one…”

There is no confusion about our righteousness in the spiritual realm.  We aren't righteous.  But God has made it possible for us to have His righteousness.  When we believe in the Lord Jesus Christ for salvation, God the Father imputes His righteousness to us…He credits it to our account.  Second Corinthians, Chapter 5, Verse 21…

Second Corinthians 5:21

God the Father made the Lord Jesus Christ who knew no sin to be sin on our behalf, so that we might become the righteousness of God the Father in union with Him.

Righteousness is required to live with God forever.  And since no creature can manufacture perfect righteousness, God gives it, free of charge, to anyone who requests it.  So how do you get to heaven?  God is black and white about it.  You need His righteousness to get into heaven.  You either have it or you don’t.  If you believe in the Lord Jesus Christ…you have His righteousness as a free gift.  If you don’t believe in the Lord Jesus Christ, you’re counting on self-righteousness to get into heaven.  Self-righteousness won’t cut it.

If you’re a member of a religion…you’ve been told that the only way to be righteous is to stop sinning.  Unfortunately, you haven’t found a way to do it.  And you won’t find a way to do it.  But a righteous God, knowing that you can’t manufacture righteousness on your own, through any works of your own, sent His Son to the Cross to pay for the chance for you to have the righteousness from God free of charge.  Do you want it?

Tick Tock…what time is it now on The Creator Clock?

<CREATOR CLOCK SLIDE pointing to five o’clock>

It’s Five O’clock.  God IS righteous.  A God who is without sin…who has absolutely standards…has made a way, consistent with His own righteousness for the imperfect creature to be saved.  So what?  So why don’t you ask Him to save you right now.  Acts, Chapter 16, Verse 31 says…

Acts 16:31

“Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved, you and everyone in your household who also believes.”
