Paul’s Prayer for the Purpose of his Ministry
ROM 1:8
First, I, Paul, thank God the Father in prayer through Jesus Christ’s name for all you believers in Rome, because your faith is being proclaimed throughout the whole world…throughout the entire Roman Empire.

PRAYER
A private talk between you and God.
MAT 6:5
“When you pray, you are not to be like the hypocrites (the Pharisees); for they (the Pharisees) love to stand and pray in the synagogues and on the street corners so that they may be seen by men. Truly I say to you, they have their reward in full.”
MAT 6:6
“But you, when you pray, go into your inner room, close your door and pray to your Father who is in secret (not seen), and your Father who sees what is done in secret will reward you.”

STRUCTURE OF THE JOHN 17 PRAYER
The Lord Prays for Himself (Verses 1 to 5)

JOH 17:1
Jesus spoke these things (of the Upper Room Discourse); and lifting up His eyes to heaven, He said, “Father, the hour (we set together in eternity past) has come; glorify Your Son, that the Son may glorify You…”
JOH 17:2
“…even as You (God the Father) gave Him (Me…the Lord Jesus Christ) authority over all flesh (humans), that to all whom You have given Him, He (the Lord Jesus Christ) may give eternal life (the Zoe life).”
JOH 17:3
“This is eternal life (the Zoe Life), that they may know You (God the Father), the only true God, and (that they may know the Lord) Jesus Christ whom You (God the Father) have sent.”
JOH 17:4
“I (the Lord Jesus Christ) glorified You (God the Father) on the earth, having accomplished the work which You (God the Father) have given Me (the Lord Jesus Christ) to do.”
JOH 17:5
“Now, Father, glorify Me (the Lord Jesus Christ) together with Yourself, with the glory which I (the Lord Jesus Christ) had with You before the world was.”

JOH 17:6
“I (the Lord Jesus Christ) have manifested (made visible) Your name (God the Father) to the men whom You gave Me out of the world; they were Yours and You gave them to Me, and they have kept Your word.”
JOH 17:7
“Now they have come to know that everything You have given Me is from You…”
JOH 17:8
“…for the words which You gave Me I have given to them; and they received them and truly understood that I (the Lord Jesus Christ) came forth from You, and they believed that You sent Me.”

“I (the Lord Jesus Christ) ask (You Father in prayer) on their behalf; I do not ask on behalf of the world, but (I ask on behalf) of those whom You have given Me; for they are Yours…”
JOH 17:10
“…and all things that are Mine are Yours, and (all things that are) Yours are Mine; and I have been glorified in them.”
JOH 17:11
“I am no longer in the world; and yet they themselves are in the world, and I come to You. Holy Father, keep them in Your name, the name which You have given Me, that they may be one even as We are (one).”
JOH 17:12
“While I was with them, I was keeping them in Your name which You have given Me; and I guarded them and not one of them perished but the son of perdition (Judas Iscariot), so that the Scripture would be fulfilled (as We predicted).”
JOH 17:13
“But now I come to You; and these things I speak in the world so that they may have My joy made full in themselves.”
JOH 17:14
“I have given them Your word; and the world has hated them, because they are not of the world, even as I am not of the world.”
JOH 17:15
“I do not ask You to take them out of the world, but to keep them from the evil one.”

“They are not of the world, even as I am not of the world.”

“Sanctify them in the truth; Your word is truth.”
JOH 17:18
“As You sent Me into the world, I also have sent them into the world.”

“For their sakes I sanctify Myself, that they themselves also may be sanctified in truth.”

“I do not ask (in prayer) on behalf of these (apostles) alone, but for those also who believe in Me through their word…”
JOH 17:21
“…that they may all be one; even as You, Father, are in Me and I in You, that they also may be in Us, so that the world may believe that You sent Me.”
JOH 17:22
“The glory which You have given Me I have given to them, that they may be one, just as We are one…”
JOH 17:23
“I in(dwelling) them and You in(dwelling) Me, that they may be perfected in unity, so that the world may know that You sent Me, and loved them, even as You have loved Me.…”
JOH 17:24
“Father, I desire that they also, whom You have given Me, be with Me where I am, so that they may see My glory which You have given Me, for You loved Me before the foundation of the world.”
JOH 17:25
“O righteous Father, although the world has not known You, yet I have known You; and these have known that You sent Me…”
JOH 17:26
“…and I have made Your name known to them, and will make it known, so that the (unconditional) love with which You loved Me may be in them, and I (the Lord Jesus Christ) in(dwelling them) them.”
PHI 1:6
For I am confident of this very thing, that He (God the Father) who began a (divine) good work in (the creation of) you will (keep on) perfect(ing) it until the day of Christ Jesus.
PSA 37:1-2
Do not fret because of evildoers, Be not envious toward wrongdoers.//For they will wither quickly like the grass And fade like the green herb
PHI 4:7
And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, will guard (garrison) your hearts and your minds (for those of you) in (union with) Christ Jesus.
