Good Morning!

Welcome to Barah Ministries…a Christian Church based in Mesa, AZ…my name is Pastor Rory Clark.

TODAY’S BIBLE LESSON

The Lord’s Supper Celebration:

THE FAITHFUL SAVIOR

Today, just as we do on the second Sunday of every month, we celebrate the Lord’s Supper…a remembrance meal.  We eat, by breaking bread…we drink, by tasting the fruit of the vine…and we look back to the Cross…one of the most significant events in divine history.  First Corinthians, Chapter 11, Verse 26 says…

First Corinthians 11:26

For as often as you eat this bread and drink the cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death until He comes.

At the Lord’s Supper celebrations we remember the Lord’s death on the Cross to pay for the sin of all mankind…we also remember, with great exaltation, that he rose from the dead three days later…and we KNOW that the victorious Lord Jesus Christ is now seated at the right hand of His Father’s throne waiting for the moment when God the Father will make the Lord’s enemies a footstool for His feet.

We begin this Lord’s Supper celebration with a question for reflection…

QUESTION FOR REFLECTION

Are you faithful in your relationships?

You may want the answer to be “YES” … that you are faithful in relationships…but if you were being honest, you’d have to say, upon reflection, that sometimes you’re faithful in relationships, and sometimes you’re not.

Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, the Sovereign God of the Universe and the One whom we celebrate today, is ALWAYS faithful.  Second Timothy, Chapter 2, Verse 13 says…

Second Timothy 2:13

If we believers in Christ are faithless, and we are, He remains faithful, for He cannot deny Himself.

Yes…God is faithful to us even when we are faithless.  Why?  Well among other reasons, because at the moment of salvation we gain His absolute righteousness…we are placed into union with Him…and He would never turn His back on Himself in us.  Do you offer your relationships the same faithfulness?  You may want the answer to be “YES” …but if you were being honest, you’d have to say, upon reflection, “I like my relationships best when they please me, and I don’t like them at all when they don’t please me.  In other words, you aren’t faithful AT ALL in your relationships.  You may see that as condemnation…but I don’t.  I see it as a fact, and it’s something that you can change whenever you want to.

The other members of the Godhead are ALWAYS faithful as well.  Our God and Father, who began a good work in the creation of you, will ALWAYS be faithful to you, even after He finishes His job with you…Romans, Chapter 8, Verse 29…

Romans 8:29

For those whom God and Father foreknew, He also predestined to become conformed to the image of His Son…

Our God the Holy Spirit, the Mentor and Teacher of your sanctification who guides us into all the truth, is ALWAYS faithful to you as well…First Thessalonians, Chapter 5, Verses 23 and 24…

First Thessalonians 5:23

Now may the God of peace Himself sanctify you entirely; and may your spirit and soul and body be preserved complete, without blame at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.

First Thessalonians 5:24

Faithful is He who calls you (to salvation), and the Lord also will bring your salvation (and your deliverance) to pass.

So I ask you…

QUESTION FOR REFLECTION

Are you faithful in your relationships?

Today, we welcome you to a place where you can celebrate a God who is ALWAYS faithful in relationships…a God you can ALWAYS count on…a God who is faithful to you even when you are not faithful to Him.  And as we look back to the Cross, in our Lord’s Supper Celebration, we stand in unity and we praise THE FAITHFUL SAVIOR.

OPENING PRAYER

Let us pray...

We’re grateful, Heavenly Father, for the privilege of studying Your absolute truth...the Word of God…

Thank you Father, for being faithful…You are a God that we can take at Your Word…we know that what You promise, You are also able to perform…we know that You always come through for us…

Show us how to love the same way…faithfully…show us how to love You, especially, without holding back…teach us to be faithful to Your Word… help us to make the best decisions at the point of pressure… free us from the guilt inspired by our imperfection…remind us who we are in union with Your Son…heal our relationships…and inspire us to treat relationships like You do…faithfully…

We ask this through the power of God the Holy Spirit…in Christ’s name... Amen.

TODAY’S BIBLE LESSON

The Lord’s Supper Celebration:

THE FAITHFUL SAVIOR

The subject of today’s lessons is relationships, mainly because relationships have been heavy on my heart lately.  In the first lesson, a bit of commentary on how we ought to love in relationships.  In this lesson a bit of reflection on and a bit of enjoyment of how God loves us.  The Lord Jesus Christ is THE FAITHFUL SAVIOR.  He loves us unconditionally and faithfully.  In Second Timothy, Chapter 2, Verses 8 to 12 …one of Paul’s epistles to Pastors, he reminds Timothy about our THE FAITHFUL SAVIOR…

Second Timothy 2:8

Remember (to preach) Jesus Christ, as risen from the dead, as a descendant of David, according to my gospel…

Second Timothy 2:9

…for which gospel I suffer hardship even to imprisonment as if I am a criminal (a doer of evil); but the Word of God is not imprisoned.

Second Timothy 2:10

For this reason (the preaching of the gospel) I endure all things for the sake of those who are the chosen out ones (all believers in Christ), so that they also may obtain the salvation (and the deliverance) which is a result of being in union with Christ Jesus, and with this union, eternal glory.

Second Timothy 2:11

It is a trustworthy statement…for if we believers in Christ died with Him, and we did, we will also live with Him…

The Lord rescues us from spiritual death and delivers us to spiritual life…

Second Timothy 2:12

If we endure (suffering as believers in Christ), and we do, we will also reign with Him (during His Millennial Reign)…if we deny Him, (and some do by rejecting a relationship with Him) He also will deny us…

Once we are believers in Christ we move from suffering to glorification… unbelievers, on the other hand, are facing a horrible fate, God the Father’s wrath, for continuing in unbelief…let’s take a brief trip to Matthew, Chapter 7, Verses 21 to 23…

Matthew 7:21

“Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father who is in heaven will enter the kingdom.”

Those that respond positively to the gospel message of salvation…those who believe in God the Father’s Son…these are the ones who will enter the kingdom of heaven.  Unbelievers will not enter the kingdom of heaven.

Matthew 7:22

“Many will say to Me on that day (the day of Great White Throne Judgment), ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in Your name, and in Your name did we not cast out demons, and in Your name did we not perform many miracles?’”

Matthew 7:23

“And then I (the Lord Jesus Christ) will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness.’”

Unbelievers are the ones who practice lawlessness.  They don’t have a relationship with the Lord.  They don’t know Him.  He doesn’t know them.  Finishing up in Second Timothy, Chapter 2, at Verse 13…

Second Timothy 2:13

If we believers in Christ are faithless, and we are, He remains faithful, for He cannot deny Himself.

The Lord will never deny those with whom He is in union…and all believers in Christ are in union with Christ.  He is THE FAITHFUL SAVIOR.  Let’s enjoy the elements, and then we’ll take a look at what it means to be faithful.

TODAY’S BIBLE LESSON

The Lord’s Supper Celebration:

ENJOYING THE ELEMENTS

Following God’s request, we keep on celebrating CHRIST and His Cross on a regular basis…we eat to remember who He is…His PERSON…we drink to remember His WORK, the voluntary sacrifice He made at the Cross on our behalf as our substitute…and we are grateful for what God has done for us.  First Corinthians, Chapter 11, Verses 23 and 24 say…

First Corinthians 11:23

For I, Paul received from the Lord that which I also delivered to you, that the Lord Jesus Christ on the night in which He was betrayed took bread…

First Corinthians 11:24

and when He had given thanks, He broke it and said, “This is, and keeps

on being My body, which is broken for you; keep on doing this celebration

for the purpose of remembering Me.”

When we eat the bread during the Lord’s Supper Celebration, we remember THE PERSON of the Lord Jesus Christ.

When we drink the cup, we remember THE WORK of the Lord Jesus Christ.  First Corinthians, Chapter 11, Verses 25 and 26 say…

First Corinthians 11:25

In the same way the Lord Jesus Christ took the cup after supper, representing His death on the Cross, saying, “This cup is a new testament forged with My blood; keep on doing this celebration, as often as you drink it, for the purpose of remembering Me.”

First Corinthians 11:26

“For as often as you eat this bread and drink the cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death until He comes.”

As you enjoy the bread and the cup, enjoy the memory of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ as well. Now and always, let us keep on giving thanks that we are loved and accepted fully by THE FAITHFUL SAVIOR…and let’s enjoy His love Day by Day, our Lord’s Supper song.

TODAY’S BIBLE LESSON

The Lord’s Supper Celebration:

THE FAITHFUL SAVIOR

When we look back to the Cross we see THE FAITHFUL SAVIOR.

What does it mean to be faithful?  Being faithful means…

FAITHFUL

To stick with someone through thick and thin…to never betray someone.

We have a “no matter what” Savior…He is on our side “no matter what” …Second Timothy, Chapter 2, Verse 13…

Second Timothy 2:13

If we believers in Christ are faithless, and we are, He remains faithful, for He cannot deny Himself.

Are you like this in your relationships?

What does it mean to be faithful?

FAITHFUL
To ALWAYS give people a way out of any jam.

Our God always rescues us…First Corinthians, Chapter 10, Verse 13…

First Corinthians 10:13

No temptation has overtaken you but such as is common to man; and God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will provide the way of escape also, so that you will be able to endure it.

Our trials are the same ones that all people face…we are not unique…and we certainly are not original…yet God always gives us a way out of a dilemma.  Are you like this in your relationships?

What does it mean to be faithful?

FAITHFUL

To accomplish what you set out to do with someone.

The Lord Jesus Christ as THE FAITHFUL SAVIOR keeps His Word.  He will do all that He has said He will do.  He keeps His promises.  Our faithful God never lies…our faithful God never changes…Numbers, Chapter 23, Verse 19…

Numbers 23:19

“God is not a man, that He should lie, nor a son of man, that He should repent (change His mind); has He said, and will He not do it? Or has He spoken, and will He not make it good?”

God keeps His Word.  Are you like this in your relationships?

What does it mean to be faithful?

FAITHFUL

To protect you from all forms of harm, even in circumstances where you want to harm yourself.

God is always there for you.  Second Thessalonians, Chapter 3, Verses 1 to 3…

Second Thessalonians 3:1

Finally, brethren, pray for us that the word of the Lord will spread rapidly and be glorified, just as it did also with you…

Second Thessalonians 3:2

…and that we will be rescued from perverse and evil men; for not all have faith.

Second Thessalonians 3:3

But the Lord is faithful, and He will strengthen and protect you from the evil one.

God’s faithful character is the basis of our confidence as Christians.  He is always on guard for us.  Are you like this in your relationships?

What does it mean to be faithful?

FAITHFUL

Someone who is always on your side.

First Corinthians, Chapter 1, Verses 9 and 10…

First Corinthians 1:9

God the Father is faithful, through whom you were called into fellowship with His Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.

First Corinthians 1:10

Now I exhort you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you all agree and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be made complete in the same mind and in the same judgment.

As Christians, we must always mend our divisions, and not let ourselves be used by the kingdom of death to turn our sanctuary of unity into a hell hole.  Are you like this in your relationships?

What does it mean to be faithful?

FAITHFUL

Someone who is willing to stand up for you when you are in trouble.

This is one of the major themes that we celebrate when we look back to the Cross.  Isaiah, Chapter 53, Verse 10…

Isaiah 53:10

But the Lord (God the Father) was pleased to crush Him (Jesus Christ), putting Him to grief; and if Jesus would render Himself as a guilt offering, Jesus Christ will see His (many) offspring, God the Father will prolong His days, and the good pleasure of the Lord (God the Father) will prosper in Jesus’s hand.

This is what we celebrate on the day of the Lord’s Supper celebration…we celebrate THE FAITHFUL SAVIOR who was humiliated for us…who shed blood for us…who died and rose again for us…so that we could be saved.

The truth about us as humans is that when we have a person who is faithful in our lives, we consider them boring.  We take them for granted.  We have a choice to imitate our Savior through the power of God the Holy Spirit in us, and we can be faithful to those with whom we have relationship.

Relationship is not a word to be taken lightly.  What is a relationship?

RELATIONSHIP

A connection that you decide on which becomes a possession of yours to be treasured and cared for and nurtured

So I ask you…

QUESTION FOR REFLECTION

Are you faithful in your relationships?

Do you consider them to be sacred…to be treasured…to be cared for…to be nurtured?

There is much to say about being faithful…and there is much more to say about THE FAITHFUL SAVIOR, so we’ll continues this strand of thought in our next Lord’s Supper Celebration.  For now, review what you’ve learned here about faithfulness, and compare it to how you treat the relationships you hold dear.  And if you see the need for adjustment, make the adjustment.  Imitate THE FAITHFUL SAVIOR.

GOD WANTS YOU!

The Most Important Decision of Your Life

Matthew 22:42

“What do you think about the Christ, whose son is He?”

Matthew 7:13-14

“Enter through the narrow gate; for the gate is wide and the way is broad that leads to destruction, and there are many who enter through it.//For the gate is small and the way is narrow that leads to life, and there are few who find it.”

John 10:9

Jesus said, “I am the door; if anyone enters through Me, (maybe you will and maybe you won’t you have a choice) he will be saved, and then he will go in and out and find pasture.”

Luke 23:42-43

And the repentant thief was saying, “Jesus, remember me when You come in Your kingdom!// And Jesus said to him, “Truly I say to you, today you shall be with Me in Paradise.”
