TODAY'S STUDY - The Lord's Supper - What Christ did at the Cross

And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect.

And the Word became flesh, and dwelt among us...

Cease striving and know that I am God;

1. You're a sinner.

2. Christ paid for your sins.

3. If you choose to believe that, then you need to prove it by paying Christ back for the rest of your life by trying to be perfect until you die.

... hey, you don't like your life, and neither do we, so come join us...

For God so loved the world, the He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life.

Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved...

That if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved;

When it was evening, the disciples came to Him and said, “This place is desolate and the hour is already late; so send the crowds away, that they may go into the villages and buy food for themselves.”

But Jesus said to them, “They do not need to go away; you give them something to eat!”

They said to Him, “We have here only five loaves and two fish.” //And He said, “Bring them here to Me.”

Ordering the people to sit down on the grass, He took the five loaves and the two fish, and looking up toward heaven, He blessed the food, and breaking the loaves He gave them to the disciples, and the disciples gave them to the crowds…

And they all ate and were satisfied. They picked up what was left over of the broken pieces, twelve full baskets.

There were about five thousand men who ate, besides women and children.

GIVE to LIVE

For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; //not as a result of works, so that no one may boast.

But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.

And I give eternal life to them, and they will never perish; and no one will snatch them out of My hand.

1 COR 11:23
For I received from the Lord that which I also delivered to you, that the Lord Jesus in the night in which He was betrayed took bread;

1 COR 11:24
And when He had given thanks, He broke it and said, “This is My body, which is for you; do this in remembrance of Me.”

1 COR 11:25
In the same way He took the cup also after supper, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in My blood; do this, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of Me.”

1 COR 11:26
For as often as you eat this bread and drink the cup, you proclaim the Lord's death until He comes.

The thief comes only to STEAL and KILL and DESTROY; I came that they may have life, and have it abundantly.

Then Jesus was led up by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil.

And after He had fasted forty days and forty nights, He then became hungry.

And the tempter came and said to Him, “If You are the Son of God, command that these stones become bread.”

But He answered and said, “It is written, 'Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God.’”

Then the devil took Him into the holy city and had Him stand on the pinnacle of the temple,

And said to Him, “If You are the Son of God, throw Yourself down; for it is written, 'He will command His angels concerning You'; and 'On their hands they will bear You up, so that You will not strike Your foot against a stone.’”

Jesus said to him, “On the other hand, it is written, 'You shall not put the Lord your God to the test.’”

Again, the devil took Him to a very high mountain and showed Him all the kingdoms of the world and their glory;

And he said to Him, “All these things I will give You, if You fall down and worship me.”

Then Jesus said to him, “Go, Satan! For it is written, 'You shall worship the Lord your God, and serve Him only.’”

Then the devil left Him; and behold, angels came and began to minister to Him.

Satan wants to STEAL you from God, and make you think you own yourself. Satan wants to KILL your hopes, and dreams, and aspiration, motivation, and perseverance. Satan wants to DESTROY your life and leave you thinking that it's okay that you think your life is just... okay...

What verse best catches what it is you think about during the Lord's Supper?

Which verse best encompasses the message that Christ is wanting to get across to you during your look back on the cross?

‘For I know the plans that I have for you,’ declares the LORD, ‘plans for welfare and not for calamity to give you a future and a hope.

1 PE 5:6-7
Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you at the proper time, //casting all your anxiety on Him, because He cares for you.

Now to Him who is able to keep you from stumbling, and to make you stand in the presence of His glory blameless with great joy, //to the only God our Savior, through Jesus Christ our Lord, be glory, majesty, dominion and authority, before all time and now and forever. Amen.
